Assuming he really is willing to stay for less, he's definitely leaving himself an out...as he should. He also made it clear that he expects the TPMLE, so if the Lakers decided to give that to someone else...or Kyrie decides he'll leave $30 million on the table...he gone.

I've only seen that they gave him a short term offer.

Could have been a 1 + 1 with a team option.

Could have required him to play a minimum amount of games.

All they'd need to do to make it " unfair " to a guy like Kyrie would be to make it include a few road games.

He'd be forced to get the vaccine to meet that requirement unless the law changes.

That's probably a deal breaker for him.

Not discuss an extension or a trade. He’s gone but you damn sure don’t have to bend over and make it easy on him.

Can you even finalize an extension before either he picks up that option or the new league year opens?

It's been rumored that Lebron is in New York lobbying Kyrie to come to the Lakers. That's not tampering.

However, if the Lakers are negotiating through Lebron (which I'm sure they are)...that would be tampering.

Yeah, it's why I would prefer KD to play with James but he's going to demand a haul in return we couldn't match. And I don't think KD wants to play with James.

The vaccine deal is dead now right? I thought all restrictions were lifted everywhere now. Also, obviously I can’t prove it but I think the vaccine thing was just what was available for Kyrie to get to do his thing last year. If it hadn’t been that it would have been something else.
