No More "Bullpen Failure"
So what should we do regarding a trade, a FA acquisition, or Perez when it comes to starting pitching? My money is on White. But we need SP ready in AAA ready as well.

I would prefer to extend Pérez but if not we will need an arm. Either way depending on the dealSo what should we do regarding a trade, a FA acquisition, or Perez when it comes to starting pitching?
What if he wants 3 or 4 years? What do we do to get to Leiter and Rocker? Depend on Winn, Dunning and Otto to go with Gray and some guy we can sign to a one year deal?I would prefer to extend Pérez but if not we will need an arm. Either way depending on the deal
So are you definitely out on acquiring a young pitcher via trade or a good pitcher via free agency? I am assuming a good pitcher in free agency will want a longer term deal.I would prefer to extend Pérez but if not we will need an arm. Either way depending on the deal
Looks like they reached.Where Rocker Was Ranked

I am thinking 2 year deal with option if no Perez but I’d we get a one year deal on someone who can get us innings that is fine.So are you definitely out on acquiring a young pitcher via trade or a good pitcher via free agency? I could see Ragans definitely being ready by the end of the season. If Winn rattles off 4 very good starts over 3 weeks then all of a sudden he is a possibility as well.I am thinking 2 year deal with option if no Perez but I’d we get a one year deal on someone who can get us innings that is fine.
I had hoped Winn and another would be ready by end of season but we may not be able to count on that
Position players are not their biggest need. They need pitchers so I understand the pick. If it works then great. No guarantee. And to think that Leiter is a lock as being a legitimate starter is not even a thought to me yet. Guy can't make it through 4 innings at Frisco. But I hope that changes.Looks like they reached.
Okay, 2025 rotation.
Gray is signed through 2025.
Perez if given an extension
Leiter
Rocker
That leaves one space for either a trade acquisition, a free agent, Winn, or White. It also doesn't include having any other pitcher in our system deserving a chance at that 2025 rotation whoever it may be.
With that in mind, would it be a mistake to go out and trade for a pitcher at the deadline?
Does that change anyone's mind about needing to extend Perez, because he will most likely want a 3 to 5 year deal?
Should we pursue a free agent pitcher this coming offseason?
I get that in the minor league level, but what about spending limited currency on pitching when you already spent dollars on Gray, plan on spending dollars on Perez, and have already spent two valuable draft picks. Some of that future spending could be done in other areas instead, like maybe on a free agent hitter or trading for someone like Soto or some other valuable piece. It is a matter of spending on the right things. An abundance of pitching will never be a problem, acquire as much as possible. If it doesn't work itself out, you can always adjust. Upgrade and then upgrade again as well.
The main reason I could see him at Frisco is to pair him with Leiter. Them being together could be a positive for both of them.
I think he goes to Hickory temporarily, much like Josh Smith did when we traded for him. After a handful of starts, then he would go to Frisco. He needs to be stretched out any way. He can do that in Hickory and then go to Frisco around late August.

I would hate to have to pick up Corbin's contract. He has not pitched well in a while.Heyman puts the Rangers as the top possibility for a Soto trade.
1. Rangers: Texas showed it’s one of the big players when it spent a half of a billion dollars on the double-play combo of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien this winter. Could the Rangers go for another $500M? Odds: 10-1
Yankees, Mets will both explore trade for Juan Soto
Both the Yankees and Mets will look into a trade for suddenly available superstar Juan Soto, sources tell The Post.nypost.com
Early unconfirmed speculation is that the Nats would request a team’s top four prospects and/or young major leaguers and perhaps a willingness to take Patrick Corbin’s bloated contract. With this kind of player, almost anything in the ask should be considered fair game.

Maybe they could even spend on the bullpen.
