Finding a box safety is much easier IMO. I am sure there is a late rounder or UDFA that could be found. Kerby is my backup pick if we dont go safety at 32/34 (although I still think we trade out of 32 so there is a chance we go WR at 34).

I like the player but....
He's a Free Safety
Only has 1 year starting and at Illinois. Why couldn't he start prior to his RS-Junior year at Illinois?
He did play a lot prior but not a starter.

If Drake London or G. Wilson were to be available at 32 - neither will - then I can see an easy run to the podium with the draft card - maybe Olave too but certainly not for WR like Burks, Dotson, S. Moore, W. Robinson, Pickens, Watson at that draft slot.

I can see Holmes being patient and waiting for a WR to drop to No. 66 or even as far back as No. 97. Think of where Kupp and AR-SB were drafted at.

I can also see the possibility where Holmes bypasses drafting a WR this year and runs with what we currently have and not spending the resources for that position unless he runs into an AR-SB situation like last year.
Maybe. It depends who is available at 34. If a prime LB is there maybe he jumps and holds off on WR. I put Watson and Burkes ahead of the rest of those guys. I am not sure even they will last to 34 never mind 66.

I've read from three different sports papers where the following players are dropping towards last quarter of 1st round to end of round 1 and two or three of these players may end up in early second round. I didn't save the article and one is from USA Today Sports, but it was subscriber only/

1. Treylon Burks
2. Tyler Linderbaum
3. Nakobe Dean
4. George Karlaftis
5. Andrew Booth

Still like Zappe. Hopefully we trade out of 32 and get extra picks and take him in the middle rounds.

Zappe is more than likely going day 3. Maybe round 4 or 5.

I like Zappe a lot. You wouldn't have to have two different playbooks and Goff and Zappe are comparable in what each can do.

I think Watson is still there at 34, unless Baalke drafts him at 33. Baalke loves those athletes.

I read quite a few articles where teams are concerned about Burks ability to transition to NFL as his primary targeted area of receptions were either behind or within 5 yards of L.O.S. The percentage was wat above 50%.

I found it to be quite odd that out of those TOP 30 visits - the 4 LB they brought in, three were more in line with WILL LB: Nakobe Dean, Brian Asamoah (probably get drafted after pick 80), Devin Harper (late day 3 - UDFA) and Quay Walker. That was it on the list.

Some tidbits on players that I'm getting off of DraftTek site

Last season, Burks caught 65 passes for 1,100 yards and 11 TDs. He averaged 3.57 yards/route run, created 9.3 YAC/reception, and logged a drop rate of just 4.4%.

If for any reason the Packers aren't in love with Burks - like a 7.28 three-cone that ranks below the 20th percentile or the fact only 24% of his routes came from an outside alignment.

Per Pauline, “Word is there’s a very real possibility the Seattle Seahawks move into the back end of Round 1 and grab their quarterback of the future.”

Adding, insiders say it’s a “definite” that the Seahawks draft offensive tackle Trevor Penning at No. 9. So Seattle’s quarterback pick will likely come with its second pick after they trade up.

So three historically elite teams will foolishly be taking their next franchise QBs while the super genius Lions will pass on this years group?

Sounds about right.

Christian Watson isn't the most polished WR in the 2022 Draft. In 4 season at North Dakota State Watson accumulated just 104 receptions, albeit for a whopping 2140 yards (20.6 ypg) and 14 TDs. The Jaguars, with no particular expectation to "win now", can work the athletically gifted Watson into the lineup gradually.

The following is freaking impressive - off of DraftTek - They have him going 50th to KC

Jalen Pitre played a hybrid safety/linebacker role for the Baylor defense, garnering snaps at all three levels of the defense. He also has subbed in at CB. He excels when asked to play downhill against screen passes and the run game.

I think Pitre has very similar qualities of Tyrann Mathieu, but has better size. The Baylor Bear has been extremely productive over the past two seasons with 26.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles, seven passes defended, and 4 INTs including two returned for TDs, is steal at this pick. According to PFF, he didn't allow a touchdown once during his five-year college career.

Tariq Woolen exites fans and NFL execs alike with his 4.26 40 speed and 42" vertical at 6'4". However Woolen has only started 15 games at CB, after transitioning over to the position (from WR) as a sophomore at UTSA. As such he'll need much improvement as evidenced by a 27.6% missed tackle rate in 2021. With diligent coaching, Woolen can become the Pats' next lockdown corner.

While some may label Logan Hall as a tweener, others will see him as positionally versatile. Hall was tremendously productive as a two-year starter at DT, posting a 16.5% pass-rush win rate and 9.3% run-stop rate last season. With the flexibility to contribute at DL3T, DL5T, or EDGE, Hall could be a great fit in Green Bay.

Leal was top 12-15 back in January and now is projected to be drafted mid 2nd round.

DeMarvin Leal, a former five-star recruit, was considered a Top-10 prospect prior to the 2021 season. Leal's stock is down after potentially playing out of position, producing 9 sacks and 37 pressures while lining up outside the tackle on 60% of snaps.

Still like Zappe. Hopefully we trade out of 32 and get extra picks and take him in the middle rounds.
I thought Zappe was basically Ty Detmer, but was surprised by his deep ball accuracy.

He would be a perfect fit for us

Nah. If anything he is more like Sam Bradford was without the injury issues.

What would be sweet is if Nakobe Dean is still available at 32, but Seattle or preferably Atlanta traded into 32 and Lions draft Dean at 34 and Pitre in Atlanta's 43 slot. I'm not sure if Holmes values LB that high and depends on what WR is left at 32. There have been no ties to Lions and Pitre. I find that odd.

I read two scenarios a couple of days ago regarding the Atlanta trade

option #1

Atlanta trades 2022 #43 (470 - points) and their 2023 2nd round pick (current future value would be 235 - Atlanta is probably headed for top 7 pick next year) for Lions #32 (590 points)

option #2 - similar to the one I proposed last week but they had an earlier 3rd round pick of Atlanta - they have #74 and #82 in 3rd round

Atlanta trades 2022 #43, 74 and 2023 5th round
Detroit's #32 and #97
