Not surprised at all, but what exactly did we get in return?

Provorov can probably be a solid defenseman in the right situation, but he definitely appeared to have burnt his bridges in Philly. It was affecting his performance and there was no coming back from it. He had to be moved, in my opinion. I stated that at some point during the season.

Edit: Looks like we're getting prospect Helge Grans (a 6'3" 206 lb 21 year old RHD from Sweden) and a 2nd round pick in this deal.
I also saw the 22nd pick this year from Columbus.

Looks like Provy for
Cal Petersen, Sean Walker, Helge Grans, and a second-round pick from the Kings; and from Columbus,

A first-round pick (22nd overall) and a second-round pick.

A 1st and 2 2nds and Grans is a pretty good return.

That seems pretty solid? Whatever contracts come back don't really matter, the key is getting as much value as you can. And a 1st and 2 2nds is pretty solid.

I appreciate the complexity too tbh. 3 team move with 2 cap dumps included to up the return on Provorov. That's the way to do it.

Walker 2.65 for this year
Peterson 5 for this year and next.

So about 1M added to the cap for this year, and 1.75M in savings for next year.

Also sets the Flyers goalie crease up interestingly. Hart/Ersson/Peterson. Wonder how they'd divvy up the starts, unless they do end up moving a goalie...

Looks like the second rounders are the kings 2024 and conditionally 2024 or 2025 from the blue jackets

LA had to dump Peterson, who is less than Provy. LA apparently sent him to the AHL at one point. A lot of speculation is that they are setting up a Hart move. I hope not, but if they do and can include Risto in the deal, it won't hurt as bad.

Looks like Grans is not just a throw in either. Early 2nd rounder in 2020. Can't skate which is on brand, but has other good qualities?

From Pronman back in August:

11. Helge Grans, D

20 years old | 6-foot-3 | 206 pounds | Shoots right

Drafted: No. 35 in 2020
Tier: Projected to play NHL games

Skating: Below NHL average
Puck skills: Below NHL average
Hockey sense: NHL average
Compete: NHL average
Shot: Above NHL average

Analysis: Grans had a good season, looking solid versus men as a teenager in the AHL and playing an important role for Sweden’s U20 team. He is an intelligent puck-mover who can make a strong first pass. He’s not overly flashy, but Grans makes plays and has a hard point shot, allowing him to run a power play well. His feet are heavy, but with his length, he should be able to defend well as a pro. I think he’s going to play, and has a chance to be a top-four D if he hits.

That would be 2 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6ths.

I (twitter) had that wrong looks like. Just updated the original post.

6. Helge Grans, RHD, 20 (Ontario Reign)

There are three prospects ranked below Grans on this list who’ve been NHL regulars or close at some point in their young careers already, and yet I still think Grans belongs here on the upside of what he’s capable of becoming if he puts it all together.

The appeal of Grans, in the past, has been anchored in the legitimacy of his individual tools more than the sum of his parts. He’s a 6-foot-3, right-shot defenceman who is both mobile and talented. He’s comfortable with the puck. He has great hands for his size. He’s a superb passer on outlets and through offensive-zone lanes. And he’s at his best when he’s playing an aggressive style and taking risks to make things happen.

There’s still some rawness to his even-strength play and he can look a little stilted on his pivots, but his game has started to take form defensively as well. He has driven results with the Reign this year, and despite having played parts of five seasons at two top pro levels, he’s just still just 20. Grans has the potential to be a second-pairing defenseman with two-way value. There’s a balance to be struck with his mistakes and some of that just comes with continued reps. I hope they encourage him to play a highly-involved game, because that’s when his tools really shine. I’d rather see him looking to make things happen than playing passively.

Still not bad for Provy. Would have liked to get into the 2nd round this year. The 1st id the 22nd pick this year.

Grain o' salt en sech.

Ya, good amount of smoke around that today too. Dreger tweeted something about it too which adds to the legitimacy.

Before today I would’ve been surprised if they moved Hart. Same timeline issues as TK, but I just didn’t think they’d move a high end goalie that’s still young given the org’s history. But after today, it looks more likely than not.

They didn't keep bobrovsky. Why keep hart? :frusty:

Honestly these last ten years have been sickening.
