I disagree. It was Embiid putting the team on his back that even had them in the top 4 last season.
Unless I have misunderstood you, weird you don't think this should matter for Joker getting his team to a top 6 seed with less talent around him.

Speaking of Jokic heard during the game last night that he's only one of two players in league history to have multiple 30-point trip-dubs on 90% shooting. The other is Wilt. And he has 14 trip-dubs this seasons. Nuggets are 14-0 in those games.

He also became the Nuggets all time leader in assists. First time in league history a C is a teams all time leader in assists.

I have a hard time understanding why people value a 6 seed over attaining a 4 seed. Embiid didn’t have more talent around him than Joker did. Their second best player was a 2nd year guy picked 21st who was a surprise.

A 4 seed of course is better but to say Embiid did not have more talent around him is kooky talk. Serious reach to use where Maxey was picked to downgrade him. But solid effort, I guess.

If that matters maybe all you need to do in your complaining about Jokic in these discussions is mention where he was picked and call it a day?

Have to admit thought this might be one of those games they did not make their typical comeback and might just lose by 15-20 or more.

Will say while they fought I'd almost rather they just come back a little and lost by 10 or so. Such an annoying way to go down.

Almost never a blame the ref guy but wow....that call on Allen. Didn't see entire game so if JB had a challenge no idea why he didn't use it. Also not sure if can be challenged but that ref was really quick on the 5 second call. Called 1 second immediately after giving the ball to Okoro...4 to 5 was quick, too.

Oh well....still could have stopped them and/or scored ourselves so we are to blame. Hell of a game.
Yeah, it was not a fun way to lose, if there is such a thing.

JB had timeouts.

He should have used one.

Oh, well….

Flush it.

You guys are well positioned to finish top 4 or 5.

What’s the point? This isn’t really about basketball. It’s about narrative and denigrating Joker’s supporting cast was all the rage last year. The way people talked last year it was like he was carrying a special Olympics team.

Pretty sure the only team that ever had fun losing were the Washington Generals.

Dude, the Clippers actually have the fucking AUDACITY to be resting guys in a game that will drop them below .500.

…..a game they are currently losing by 10.

It could be worse.
This is killing me about today's game....

SMH.

do you mean he had TOs so should have challenged? If so, I agree on the Allen call for sure.

Yeah..players were all saying the same after game. Sucks but move on to the next one.

Yeah that's a bit of a stretch but they were missing his top 2 teammates. Seems you want to use that to prop up Embiid but not Jokic.

If you are being a homer in support of Maxey he's an all star or future all star, right? But in this case he's just the 21st pick?

No, Joel Embiid doesn’t need to be propped up. I’m saying if a 2nd year player drafted late in round 1 is your 2nd best player there’s little difference between the two supporting casts. And yet it was the key piece of the narrative that resulted in Joker being handed his 2nd straight MVP.

Damn good point about where they were drafted, never thought of that.

One was the # 1 overall pick that didn't play a game his first two years in the league and has never played 70 games in a season.

The other was picked 41st and is reliable. Playing at least 71 games each year of his career. In '20 when the season was 72 games he played all of them. That other guy during a shortened season still missed 21 games.

Season numbers for both.

NJ: 25.1 ppg, 11.0 rebs, 9.9 asts, 1.4 stls, 0.6 blks / .626 FG%, .372 three-pt % (he's missed 4 games all season, 3 of them were due to virus protocols)

JE: 33.6, 9.8, 4.2, 1.0. 1.7 / .536 FG%, .352 three-pt % (he's played 33 of 44 games)

Who was the number one overall pick?

Thanks for pointing that out. Got him mixed up with Simmons.
The major distraction that didn’t show up and yet Embiid carried his team throughout to still land a top 4 seed? Are we talking about that Ben Simmons?

No matter where he was picked, Maxey was easily the best teammate either had last season.....and the guy played 75 games as opposed to missing most of the season. Kind of matters.
