The lakers using their firsts now should just as much about next year as this year

Lakers have 4 guys under contract and something like 34-36m in cap space, but with so many empty roster spot charges, it’s really not meaningful space

Plus:

Reaves is gonna be like Caleb Martin last year. Likely at least an mle contract

Plus they would only have the small room mle rather than even the taxpayer one they’d get by acquiring guys they want to use bird rights on and go over the cap for

Staying under the tax next year is doable if you do nothing, but isn’t the best way to maximize the Lebron window either

Yep, depends on the trade. With what appears to be available this summer, better acquisitions may be available via trade now. That said, I think Jeanie has a lady boner for Kuzma. That's reportedly why she nixed the Pacers trade after camp.

Ugh, that's brutal.

I mean Bev and Nunn cover you salary wise.

maybe they throw back someone else to make it closer to matching up.

Would still leave you Russ and a first to make a move. But you're kinda stuck in a lot of cases there to teams with lots of cap space left (Hou, Indy, SAS). Not impossible, but only indy was a match and without both firsts not sure there's a great path that keeps everyone happy.

Dame's a helluva player but Clyde will always be my favorite Blazer. Who would be Portland's all time starting five?

Not very familiar with the organization so any suggestions on a starting five would be cool.

PG- Dame

SG- Clyde

*SF- ??

PF- LaMarcus Aldridge

C- Bill Walton (pre-injury)
*Rasheed Wallace.

Well, he is definitely not a 3

I think he played a decent amount of 3 for them while grant was there but I’d have to double check

Nope. He played way less 3 than the narrative was at the time

Only has 2 seasons over 20% at the 3

Well, he is definitely not a 3

Play Brandon Roy or Terry Porter at 2, Drexler at 3

Pippen also played for the Blazers after he was washed.

I put that together just thinking about former Blazer players. Didn't look at any stats.

Wasn't interested in looking anything up at the time. Was just thinking of former Blazers off the top of my head.

Am I the only one who liked Gerald Wallace?

Dude was so athletic.

He just never put it all together.

He had some good years.

Just not putting him on an all time list over those others.

But I take Gerald at 3 before I take Sheed at 3 for sure.

No Darius Miles?

:dhd:

The most interesting parts of Miles career were how his draft selection wrecked the bulls plans in 2000 and lead to the disastrous playing Marcus fizer at the 3 selection

When he got traded to CLe there was a theory that some scouts quoted in SI that didn’t like the trade because he was gonna have to take on more of a primary scoring role as hurt his development of an all around game (basically the opposite of tmac’s development since the Cavs didn’t have a Vinsanity, but his knees were shot anyway so it was irrelevant

And finally, when his knees went and the blazers got that exception and then he played enough for other teams to put his salary back on their cap you had that stern memo from a blazers exec saying teams had a legal duty not to sign miles and intentionally hurt the blazers. I wrote my note in law school about this issue

He was just okay for me. He was a good player at his peak though.

Guys I always thought could hoop who didn't get much accolade:

Jamal Mashburn
Shareef Abdur Rahim
Kenny Anderson
