The talk leading up to the draft has been very oversold. The Niners don't mortgage their future for a guy with almost no actual snaps if this was a deep QB class

That'd be my guess... gotta protect Prescott and Smith is struggling to stay healthy (and now 30)... Slater can play anywhere on the line.
