I'm not even saying suspend it for that long. 2 weeks to a month to get your shit together because obviously what the NBA is doing isn't working when there's been 7+ teams with more than half the team out due to "health and safety protocols" 3 weeks into the season

Yes. A lot of teams are at a competitive disadvantage and may lead to them missing the playoffs. It just isn't fair.

Dallas been without 5 or 6 rotation players due to covid for about 2 weeks now. There are others as well.

Forcing teams to play when they're down 4-5 players and you can't even expand rosters for team screams competitive disadvantage

That's their own damn fault for not complying with covid regulations. Hold your players accountable for fucking around.

And stop blaming it on 'contact tracing'. If I know of someone who might have been infected, I stay the hell away from them.

How is it that in the biggest pandemic hotspot in the USA - California, not a single game of the Lakers, Clippers or Kings has been postponed yet? Hell even the Warriors would have been ok if not for the Suns breaking protocol.

It seemed like the Cavs were willing to work with him and help him. It wasn’t that Porter Jr got mad over something petty or threw food...it happened at the worst time and was essentially the final straw. You can’t keep a guy like this in the locker room for too long. They will probably just end up waiving him, most likely today.
Would hate to dump him and get nothing. But no doubt wouldn't want him near the team until he shows he has grown up.

while some of it is just luck - good or bad - I definitely agree need to hold guys responsible. Only issue with your comment, though, is you could be near a guy who you didn't know had it.

If you wear a mask at all times in public and keep 6 feet apart, it shouldn't be a problem. Hell, i've been doing that since April without any issues.

Even at work, with people I know I still keep my distance.

Some of these NBA players are still going to bars and clubs, especially in states that don't have stricter covid mandates. They think because they have money and are mildly famous, they can get away with a lot of shit.

I wasn't a fan of pausing the season last saturday but shit if we are postponing 10-15 games a week then it isn't such a bad idea
Might agree if pausing then going to bubble atmosphere. But if not, who's to say it will be any better when they return. Hell, might even be worse of guys have more freedom with paused season.

Totally agree (especially the latter, and that's on them), but you can do the right things (social distance, wear mask, etc) and still get it.

Not saying it's impossible, but to have games called off being teams can't field at least 8 players is more than just a coincidence - its irresponsible.

Certainly possible (probaby even likely) they have themselves to blame. I thought the same when it was my football team having issues, too. wasn't that the NFL had it out for us, it was they had strict rules and they followed them. Guessing the NBA is doing the same.

But are people going to act any differently if they do that? And I’m not saying anyone is doing anything wrong, just asking the question.

It won’t change anything, they just have to give it time and it will get better just like the other sports. Definitely an overreaction early in the season

That's my Q, too. Unless stopped to go in bubble (which isn't happening), not sure it helps.

tell me how a player should stay away from a teammate who he played with the night before who tested positive the next morning?

I would love to hear this. Are players supposed to see into the future and know a teammate would next positive the next morning?

And how did this teammate get it? Are you forgetting that this is the guy that we're meant to hold accountable?

You're making ridiculous excuses now.

You do realize these players are next to each other during games, practice, during timeouts, and etc right? Do you even know what contact tracing is? If one player on a team gets it then more than half of the team will easily be considered close contacts if they're playing the game of basketball together. You could be doing everything right but simply being on the court, sharing a huddle with someone, or etc and you're considered a close contact.

Yikes. I don't know if he just needs the right team to take him in, or if he's the poison pill that spoils team chemistry.

He's got some kind of issue. He was in Andy Enfields doghouse pretty much the entire time he was at USC and that's not an easy doghouse to get into.

With the stricter protocols the NBA placed last week, I think things would get better. Before the strict protocols, it seems like players were able to move around freely

Sides, the Bills ain't gonna beat us...

kidding, anything can happen, and I'm too old and smart to be another Wiggy...

Now I'm no math major but if the Bills score more points does that mean the Chiefs would lose?
