Yeah. Rodman was a defensive monster in his day. Green is very good defensively. What made Green so valuable was his role as a distributor as well. I don't think he was nearly the defensive presence that Rodman was.
I think I need to adjust my opinion in this direction, but I stand by the similarities and close value of both players in their eras.

seems like doc is intentionally trying to have the sixers game today canceled. Sitting out embiid and simmons with made up injuries when they only had 9 players available. Now down to 7 which is under the league requirements

Green was unreal in the 2016 season when he was shooting well above league average on 3's. That was when he was a truly elite guy.

his body type and athleticism just arent that special. He has to work hard to get to what he was. As @tlance said- he was an amazing college player and kind of a draft after thought because of those things.

Thats why at age 30, when he has started to lose that athleticism he has taken such a step back from a guys athletic prime years from basically 24-28.

is he still useful? yah. Is he above average? Yes.

is his contract going to be absolutely a millstone around the Warriors neck as his athleticism continues to decline? definitely. 3 more years after this one at about 25 a year.

It kinda ridiculous that they deemed just enough players clear to play to meet the minimum standard. Playing a game where the Sixers don't have Curry, Harris, Milton, plus various back of the bench guys and forcing an injured Mike Scott to play just to have the minimum number is pretty ridiculous.

Honestly I think the Sixers would be better off forfeiting the game.

Sixers didn't have to force him to play though. Had they declared him out and use health & safety protocols for Embiid then they would have fell below the minimum.

League won't change the rules on the fly. They said from before the season started, if you don't have 8 available players then the game would get postponed. Sixers should have declared 1 or 2 of those guys out and they would be fine. League still may cancel game IMO. With no Embiid/Simmons, think they're back down to 7

He's certainly not a scrub. Probably just on the outside of the Hall of Fame looking in.

But I do think Wiggy has a point in that Green was never a super athletic guy and it is possible that he will never be close to the guy he was 4 years ago again. He definitely doesn't strike me as a guy contributing at age 35.

See nothing in this post that suggest Wiggy thinks Draymond is some scrub.

He admitted Draymond was "unreal" in 2016 then admits Dray is still useful and above avg.

What are the requirements for excluding a player for H&S standards? I honestly don't know.

This is not going to be the last time something like this happens. Not too many teams with title aspirations are going to want to see their big time players put 40+ minutes into a early season game though.

The Celtics gonna be shoooort-handed.

I kinda enjoy periods like this as a fan... (as long as guys are coming back shortly or at some point)... it gives a chance to see other players and discover if they can rise to the challenge.

That said: the Celtics are probably gonna lose some games in the near future.

Whatareyougonnado? :noidea:

what position do KD and Giannis play? the 3 or the 4? ESPN has KD as a 4 and Giannis as a 4.

Giannis is prob a 4- with holliday, Divincenzo and Middleton also starting- Connaughton a main bench player.

ESPN has Otto Porter Jr. listed as 4...is he a 4 or a 3 though?
