I guess whether or not this one makes sense hinges on who else would be in on the DeRozan market. If the Lakers are one of the few involved that could match pretty well. I just don’t see enough there to make Kuzma as the centerpiece of the deal very enticing.
I agree with you.....but not sure why Derozan would be a good fit for the Lakers.

mostly just better than the 2 guys going out.

and basically no rookie is a playoff contributor day 1.

Magic Johnson would like a word with you.

the fact that you need to go back 40 years is kind of proving my point.

most players, especially late picks, struggle early on.

You ignored that most rookies that are expected to have a big impact their rookie year, don't go to playoff teams.

which is why trading 22 to get a guy who can help in the 2022 playoffs makes sense….

Depends on who else they can get via FA and who they can get at 22. While they have to make moves to try to win now because of Lebron, it would be good to try to have some younger guys for when Lebron is gone and they still have AD.

DeRozan would not be worth giving up the #22 for, imo.

Sure. There is a school of thought to that.

the Spurs rarely dealt their first round pick during their run. To consistently have some young cheap talent to develop.

but gm Lebron burned through first rounder in Miami and Cleveland like wild fire.

it wouldn’t shock me if he wanted to keep that up.

and I kinda agree with him. The Lebron window is closing. You won’t have him forever.

Yeah, it's a unique situation. Trying to win now while building for the future.

I'm not necessarily against trading the #22. End of the day, win now moves are what they signed up for when they signed Lebron. DeRozan just isn't someone I'd trade it for.

Lebron is not a good gm….

I agree. Fortunately, Pelinka will be the one making those decisions. Obviously, Lebron will have input, but I think the final personnel decisions will be Pelinka's.

At least that's how it's worked so far.

Unless Dame takes the "I won't play for anyone else" route that AD took, why would the Blazers agree to that? Heck, I'm not sure they could get McCollum for that.

Also, I doubt the Blazers would be thrilled about trading to another Western Conference team, let alone 1 from the same division.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind the Lakers going after McCollum if the Blazers decide to keep Dame and move CJ. Just not sure if the Lakers can put together a package that someone else couldn't beat.

I never said they would take it, just that the Lakers can make the money work. Same for McCollum.

What she said was insensitive and she never would have said it publicly.

So yes, it was wrong. And she even has freely admitted that.

Problem is, this is where we are today. Insensitivity is treated like racist remarks. The threshold is so low that there almost isn't one anymore.

This is just like the blackface controversies. Way back, yes blackface was racist as it lampooned the appearance of a black person. A white person dressing up as a famous black person for Halloween shouldn't be even be in the same discussion as an offense. Bad taste? Maybe, but that shouldn't cause anyone to lose their career. Even then, it's applied unevenly. I don't see anyone calling for Robert Downey Jr to be canceled.
