Nice move by the Blazers. If Nance is healthy, I actually like the move a lot.
Sexton and Ellis is a very good comparison IMO.Monta did have a very strong work ethic. He was a 2nd round pick out of High School. He averaged 20 pts a game in his 3rd year in the league at 22 as a starter for a team that won 48 games (and yet still didn't make the playoffs because the West was absolutely loaded that year). But what really defined him for me was his moped incident. He was dumb, rode a moped and had a major injury from that. It resulted in basically a missed year and a suspension from the team.
He could have just packed it in from there, but after the injury he came back and had his best two seasons from a production stand point. That takes a lot of work to not only get back to where you were but improve.
Monta was flawed as a player. But no one could question his ability to get a bucket. He had a nice mid range game and was really crafty with the ball in an unexpected way. He got to the rim and finished pretty well. He also played passing lanes really well on defense and was able to get a lot of steals even though his general on ball defense wasn't the greatest.
Nance fit that team better....Yeah, don’t get why Cleveland would want Maarkanenen.
Yes, he is young and all that, but what do they envision his role being long term?
Bench big?
Saw Mobley at USC....he's a C, but could play PF if he develops an outside shot.Maybe they believe Mobley can play the 3, 4 or even 5.
So obviously Love won't be there long, if he stays this year he will definitely be gone next year.
21-22
Love $31M
Allen $20M
Markkanen $15M
Mobley $8M
That is a lot of money investing in just bigs but once Love is off the books it won't look bad. I really do think they want to use Mobley in a unique role
He's nowhere close to being the defender Nance is. Or the rebounder.Love nance, but maybe thinking Mobley offers everything they can get from Nance? well, not shooting, but perhaps like Nance he can improve there. Perhaps thinking they need more shooting other than Garland and Sexton?
Buyout?Honestly, I haven't watched a lot of Markannen. I just know he is a below average rebounder and below average defender for his size. So I'm not saying I like the trade but with the Love buyout, this makes a little more sense
LOL.Well Wiggy wants the Cavs to play Mobley at the 3 so.....lol.
Saw Mobley at USC....he's a C, but could play PF if he develops an outside shot.
No way he's a SF in the NBA.
Meh.....maybe. But, to start him at SF with the other bigs (which is what Shane said)? No freaking way,Definitely couldn't play SF for a long time. But in a reverse (tall) version of the Warriors "Death Lineup" he could play the 3 for a few minutes at a time.
I really wanted Ennis.they would’ve been better off using the mle for an Ennis and getting a cheaper pg
Simmons? He’ll be a Cav or Warrior soon lol
He could play some mins there. He is a 4 or 5 like ADSaw Mobley at USC....he's a C, but could play PF if he develops an outside shot.
No way he's a SF in the NBA.
Not sure what happened there.Buyout?
