Don't much like the Rondo move. We've got enough people that can play guard. We need to shore up either with a bigger guard or SF that can defend the wing or another big as insurance for if/when Howard, Gasol (if he doesn't retire), and Davis get hurt. Plus, Rondo was like 85% washed when he was with us 2 years ago. Last year he looked 99% washed.
...another guy who needs the ball, can't shoot and is on the other side of his prime.

He's the new Dudley.

No way does he play any real minutes without injuries /foul trouble.

Westbrook, THT, Monk, Nunn, Ellington, Brown....

He's not getting even 10 mpg.

But...... The guy is a basketball savant. If nothing else, he's a unofficial scout, assistant coach and a crafty vet that can give you a spark as a playmaker here and there.

I feel exactly the same way about Iguodala coming back to the Ws except he will see a few meaningful minutes more. But same level of basketball IQ.

So….

He is among the top scorers in the league from the worst shot in basketball.

Congrats!

Depends on where he's shooting from.

This article is pretty interesting and makes a good point re: the distance the shot is taken from.

A mid range shot in the nba is basically anything from about 10-22 feet. So, a 19-22 foot shot is definitely a terrible shot.

But 10-17 feet, can actually be a good shot. Especially if a team is struggling from 3 and/or the paint. Defenses are typically looking to defend the paint and the perimeter, leaving lots of open shots in the 10-17 foot range.

For a player like Westbrook who sucks from 3 and will see defenses designed to stop his drives to the paint, if he can hit that shorter mid-range shot efficiently, it could be a big help. The key, of course, is being efficient (CP3 is a good example of using efficiency on that shot to good effect, KD as well).

they would’ve been better off using the mle for an Ennis and getting a cheaper pg

I agree.

But the meme did specifically say 18-20 feet.

Percentages in that range for most players is pretty bad.

Yeah, even if the player is relatively efficient from that range...its still a bad shot, imo. Take a couple steps back and try to be efficient from 3 or a couple of steps in for a better shot.

Apparently, its a possibility. It's tweets en sech, so I don't put a lot of stock in it.

I’ve been an ennis fan since Miami brought him back from overseas. He’s no star, he’s the 8/9 guy in your playoff rotation who shoots enough that you have to guard him and doesn’t kill you on d. But he’s way cheaper than guys with similar profiles

They don't really need his presence though. It's an old as fuck roster anyway. And given their age, the last few roster spots actually does have a little more value than most teams because they'll probably need those guys to play at some point this season with injuries and rest. So it doesn't really help when you bring in a guy where there's already plenty of depth there.

Who's the backup PG behind Russ? Nunn, and then shooting guards playing out of position. If the idea is for Lebron to NOT have to run the point (and THT to be a SG/SF), then Rondo makes sense. If nothing else, they can run with him until they need the roster spot for someone else.
