Sure, but Reaves is on the roster. McClung still has to earn his way there. It all starts tonight! (Summer League California Classic, 8pm PST, ESPN2)

Sweet. I was wondering when the summer league started. Thanks for posting that.

You are thinking as the best player on the team it would be easier to be more efficient than if there were 2-4 guys taking the pressure off him (like Lou has often had)?

Sure, but that also gives Lou fewer looks as those other players need the ball too. Who are these d-leaguers btw? It's funny to see you denigrate your own team's roster to try to win an argument in favor of one of your players, especially when you've been in favor of trading him in the right deal.

Same mindset where they want to lose to collect draft picks.....rather than try and sign players to win.

i do not know one guy in the NBA that would rather have the defense keying in on him- then have an all star player on the side that draws a large amount of defensive attention.

shit- we saw it hear in Cleveland for years. of course its easier to play and you become more efficient with better teammates. Its not even a question the vast majority of the time.

Still gotta compete with GS

Same money available though, with the Lakers the better odds at the finals. Who knows? He's obviously focused on the Olympics right now, don't know how long he'll take to sign.

What's hilarious is you cannot grasp that being on bad teams makes it harder for him to be efficient. Even on good teams surrounded by MVP or HOFers Lou was almost always an inefficient shooter. Sexton has occasionally been surrounded by G leaguers and still made shots.

Yeah, that's the key, you put a good player on a bad team and he's going to get his points. The question then is, how efficiently is he getting them.

A good NBA player will put up a good scoring average if you can get him enough shots. It's not too difficult to get enough shots on a bad team. The question is, is he averaging 24 points on 24 shots? Or is it closer to 15 or 16 shots?

If it's the latter, you have a potential all star on your hands. The only question then is how does he respond when you put better players around him? Especially if he is no longer the #1 option.

He was good, but still has not touched Sexton's 24.4 ppg in his entire career. In addition, before some say it's because he shoots too much (Sexton), in his 18 seasons Lou has never topped Sexton's 47.5% shooting from his age 22 season and is a career 42% shooter, 35% from 3....despite often being, at best, his team's 3rd option.
So...lets see right now the Cavs young core is:

PG: D. Garland- 21 years old
SG: C. Sexton, 22 years old
SF: I. Okoro, 20 years old
PF: E. Mobley, 20 years old
C: J. Allen, 23 years old

I gotta say- they have some potential- but lineups that young never win much.

the vets on the bench: Nance, Rubio, Love, Osman, Dotson, Windler, Stevens, Wade.

It should be fun to see the kids play this year. thats 5 young guys that all have real talent. Not going to win a lot on most nights- but as long as they develop and show some flashes the team is on the right track.
