and he’s neither

Those guys were well past prime when the Celtics traded them.

Of course Simmons isn’t as good.

The Nets paid as if they were acquiring the 29 year old versions.

So much for tanking another year
Just playing devils advocate here but the Thunder have so many picks, the real “tanking” they’re dependent upon would be the ones that correspond with their own picks. They could put their best foot forward and lean on the failures of the teams they got the draft assets from.

True. Simmons isn’t cooked like KG and Pierce were when they got shipped to the Nets. Simmons best ball is ahead of him. That probably won’t be realized though if he stays in Philly. It’s a bad fit for his existing game and right now he’s the Come to Jesus Moment that can come from realizing that a team quit on you and lost faith in your ability to get better.

Not sure why I said JT lol. Maybe bc his role is like TT’s. He will be that sort of player for the Cavs and they gave him $16M/year. JT os a better rim protector too
I think you are messing up your Ts. Did you mean JA the better rim protector? assuming you did.

agree those 2 are similar. Neither needs to have plays called for them, can protect the paint and guard perimeter. JA better at protecting paint, TT probably a little better on perimeter.

Dream wish list for the Warriors would be Nic Batum for the Tax MLE and Andre Iguodala for the Vet minimum.

This is probably a bit out of reach as the most the Warriors can offer Batum would be 5.9m versus other teams who can offer the Full MLE at closer to 9.5M. Andre's market will likely be the vet minimum but just don't know if he'll want to come back to the bay or go to another market looking for another ring. But Batum would be very productive for us and Andre would be able to mentor the rooks.

Secondary wish list would be:

1) Otto Porter Jr.
2) Austin Rivers

I laughed. But throughout his career LeBron has been a magnet for guys who want to come on and ride his coattails to chase a ring. I don’t see this being very different. In fact, it may be an easier recruiting job. The salary may not be there but minutes could be because of the salary tied up in 3 guys and the need to fill out the roster on the cheap.
For sure would think guys chasing a ring and are aging will strongly consider LA.

THT is a Arenas provision RFA. The max deal he can be offered would be 4 years, 9.5M/10.0M/30.0M/32.3M. Westbrook and Lebron would be off the books in THT's 3rd year, so the Lakers could match that if necessary (and if they feel he's worthy of max money in his 3rd year).

What's the salary ceiling for a non-shooter? He's already overpaid IMO.

Agree that he’s not a max player. I would place his monetary value at a level of Draymond Green. He’s another guy who can do a lot of other valuable things that aren’t necessarily scoring. Green makes like 16-17 million. At the same time, Green was never ROTY and didn’t make 4 All Star teams in his first 5 seasons either. With that analysis Simmons is overpaid but not by much. Simmons makes 29 million a season. Based on what he’s done, he should probably be in the 20-24 million range. He becomes that 29 million dollar player if he makes the choice to unlock some of his god given ability. Using Green again, if Green wants to become a more accomplished scorer and shooter, he really doesn’t possess the skill set to change things. Simmons has that potential Green doesn’t have. The team that ultimately deals for Simmons is the team that believes they can unlock that potential.
