I agree. Reading where Paton has some making up to do with Lock. How so? GMs job is to field the best team possible. That involves exploring all possibilities. He would have been remiss if he didn’t make that phone call and inquire. Perhaps it turns into a deal that just couldn’t be refused. As it is, this article doesn’t even mention Lock’s name as compensation.
Keep this phone lines burning, George.

Here is the full text from the linked article.

• The Broncos discussed a pick swap with the Lions that would have equated to a late first-round pick, but it wound up becoming clear to Denver that they weren’t playing in the neighborhood where this was going.

Funny how I keep seeing these terms for the Broncos and Dalton show up in print. I even scurried over to let DC know once the Broncos signed Dalton - only to have him tell me -that can't be true for another 6 weeks or so.
Predicted......not a done deal.

I think Dalton would be a good vet option to push Lock if we decide to go that way. I don't want to trade draft pick(s)
for a back up QB.

Dalton or Beathard is what I am expecting. Hopefully we don’t settle on another Jeff Driskel. All due respect but we need someone who can push.

Listening to Broncos Country Tonight from last night, and Benjamin Albright claims the Broncos offer for Stafford was sending our 1st and 3rd for Stafford and the Lions 2nd. The Lions came back with 1st, 3rd, Lock, and Jeudy and a bit more. The Broncos walked away at that point.

When you trade away a proven franchise QB you tend to get greedy and get everything you can. Which is why I knew Stafford would be uber expensive.

Broncos hire Chris Cook as Offensive Control Coach.

Anyone else surprised that Tom McMahon is still employed?

Still need a DBs coach. Klis floated 3 potential options. Not sure Klis is the most accurate reporter, but he still has more information then I do.

Yes - special teams have sucked for his entire tenure.

Not only was I glad to see the Chiefs lose, but man that game was an ass-kicking.

Not only was I glad to see the Chiefs lose, but man that game was an ass-kicking.

I am not shocked that Tampa Bay won, but I did think KC would going into the game. The thing that shocked me was how little the KC offense did, and was unable to score at TD. There will be a lot of defensive coordinators watching that film and looking for ways to emulate what the Bucs did. I do think the Broncos can cause the KC offense problems if their D is completely healthy.

I know the Chiefs have been anointed the next dynasty and they may well be that, but I am not so sure for the following reasons:
  • The Chiefs will not be able to keep this team together going forward more then likely due to the contract of Patrick Mahomes. I read an article a couple weeks ago that they were expected to cut both OTs this year to get under the salary cap as they are currently ~12 Million over. Did the Super Bowl change their decision. They have 3 over 20 million next yeat (Clark, Jones, and Mahomes) and in 2022 they have 1 over 30 million (Mahomes) and 3 over 20 Million (Clark, Hill, and Jones) That is a lot of salary cap tied up in just a few players. Drafting well will be key for them to remain Super Bowl favorites.
  • Andy Reid has done a good job of maintaining a good team in the past. Philadelphia was usually a pretty good team, but they were only able to make 1 Super Bowl. WIll Reid be better in KC? Maybe and maybe not. The Cheifs are going to be good, but I think they are going to come back to the pack in the next couple of years. I am not sure they are the head and shoulders best team in the AFC going forward.
  • The Chiefs D was less then stellar tonight, and I know they were playing Brady how makes many a defense look silly, but their DBs were awefully grabby. Was that just tonight or have they gotten away with that perviously? We will see what happens next year, but it will interesting if the Cheifs D will be able to be effiecent enough to be complimentary to their offense.
Overall I am glad that the 2020 season of craziness is behind us and we can start looking forward to what the 2021 season will be.

Would you replace the Von Miller with Shaq Barrett? It might be a little savings, and another younger pass rusher.

I really don't see it happening, but it would be awesome to have him back.

I think we have begun. ;)

There is a deadline of July 15th once a player is given the franchise tag, but I have never heard when the team can open negotiations again. Is it after the Super Bowl? Is it at the end of the regular season? Just never knew.

Broncos hire Christian Parker to be the ne Defensive B

He seems to be a guy that has continued to progress and take on more responsibility through his career.

Ok, but after reading that - it doesn't appear the Parker has been results oriented. This must be a hire recommended by @SpringStein

I did meet him during the 2019 season at an after game tailgate party in GB. Other than seeming to be a nice guy, I don’t know anything else about him. :)
