I completely disagree that titles define a players greatness to this degree. Just too many things that can happen. It is an exaggeration
But Stephen A is correct to a point.
If KD stayed and won 4 titles with GS, he is knocking on the door of the top 5 all time.
He can still accomplish that (and maybe a little more) winning multiple titles in Brooklyn with all the drama there, but if he fails in Brooklyn he will likely have lost his shot at top 10 all time and be viewed somewhere in the Karl Malone, David Robinson neighborhood.
It isn’t legacy defining in the sense that he will be looked at as a bum if he fails, but it is in the sense that he has a chance to reach some truly rarified air. And IMO, he is a good enough basketball player to do it. But the resume is obviously lacking at the moment.
That is exactly how I see it as of today.I think it’s Herro’s to lose. JA Morant is MIP for me. Mobley ROTY.
The last time was right before Covid, but before then was going to nearly all the home games when daughter was a cheerleader and the 2 years after she left (so for 4 years).
Never saw anything close to being as unexplainable as that call. This was beyond just a "horrible call". This was not a obvious travel or foul that was missed or even calling a foul when the guy was not touched. This was a ref calling a guy with the ball in his hands OOB, that ball being passed to another player while guys were goofing around and a practice shot being taken....and that shot counting.
Want to say they still might have scored anyway? No disagreement, but in HS or even rec basketball I've never seen anything I could compare to that.

Agree.I am first 1 in line for titles don’t completely define a player’s legacy.
But if you want in the top 5 all time?
You better have a handful.
KD has 1 MVP and 2 titles. He needs more on his resume for sure.
Agree.
Titles are the deciding factor when all else is equal.
He needs more to jump Magic and Larry, let alone LeBron, KAJ or THE GOAT, Michael Jordan.
You have a solid point.I completely disagree that titles define a players greatness to this degree. Just too many things that can happen.
I prefer giving this award to someone who went from doing very little to good/really good than from good/great to elite, but no doubt Ja should be at or near the top for this award. Honestly wasn't aware of the leap he made without looking at his stats from last year. Was really thinking he was scoring like this last season and nope. Advanced numbers have gone way up, too.Yup.
I originally had Garland as MIP.
Ja is smoking the field.
Miles Bridges took a nice leap too.I prefer giving this award to someone who went from doing very little to good/really good than from good/great to elite, but no doubt Ja should be at or near the top for this award. Honestly wasn't aware of the leap he made without looking at his stats from last year. Was really thinking he was scoring like this last season and nope. Advanced numbers have gone way up, too.
If that’s the case Ja and Bridges are right there at the topI prefer giving this award to someone who went from doing very little to good/really good than from good/great to elite, but no doubt Ja should be at or near the top for this award. Right in the sense we'd be trying to win, but they have far exceeded my expectations. Figured 40 wins would be great for us.....and you were right.
This is not a fluke.
I had Garland too.I am giving it to Bridges or Garland.
Ja gets 1st team all NBA.
Yep. Titles are a team accomplishment. However, in the impossible task of ranking all time greats, that's one of the criteria.I completely disagree that titles define a players greatness to this degree. Just too many things that can happen.
That's why I might not give it to Ja, too. Is he worthy? Absolutely.....but he wont be short on accolades/awards after the season.I am giving it to Bridges or Garland.
Ja gets 1st team all NBA.
He's another guy with a sneaky injury history.Probably gonna be out for at least another 6-7 weeks.
Bulls' Lonzo Ball (knee) to miss 6-8 weeks
The Chicago guard has not played since Jan. 14 due to a left knee injury that requires arthroscopic surgery.www.nba.com
It's why I say Embiid or Jokic or even Paul or Bron for MVP.That's why I might not give it to Ja, too. Is he worthy? Absolutely.....but he wont be short on accolades/awards after the season.
You'd be wrong and it's almost comical you are still trying to make excuses for this one as though you think it's your duty to stick up for refs because of their tough job. I did not need a replay to know they screwed the pooch on this one as I knew the ball was in the guy's hands standing OOB (may have first been on head, then in hands) and why a whistle was called to stop play well before the practice shot.Well I have for sure.
And had you watched this in real time with no replay as you would have in a high school game?
You probably wouldn’t know just how bad the call was either.
But I have watched games live, then seen the film after and there are some real doozies.
