I can agree that's pretty bad. If I was watching I would not be looking for reasons to excuse that ref. Wondering why you even asked for the points and didn't just find ways to understand why he made the call knowing how hard his job is?

Would also say situation last night a little different as I suspect the refs did know the rules and a tech and counting a shot that didn't count should not happen.
Terrible officiating should never happen, and yet it does sometimes and always will. Not even sure what you guys are arguing about. No one thinks the refs didn't fuck up.

Horrible call #3

My favorite.

20 seconds into the game, my point guard gets an in bounds pass against a light press. He dribbled once and threw a cross court pass to a teammate.

Ref calls 10 second violation when it was actually like 2 and a half seconds.

I said: “what? That wasn’t even close!”

Instant T with no warning.

I go to the end of the bench and drop my clipboard from about a foot onto a chair. Ref gives me a second T and I am ejected.

Literally on the first possession of the game.
afterwards you sat there thinking of reasons why what the ref did was OK, right?

Never mind for all I know you made up/exaggerated all of these calls, but this one like the others not quite the same as we've all seen bad/quick techs called in games that were unwarranted.

Horrible call #4

This particular team I was coaching had 1 superstar and a bunch of role players.

We were pretty good with him, and very mediocre without him.

We were playing on the road against the worst team in the conference, but it was late in season and a must win. We needed the W to remain tied for 1st place.

Start of 2nd half we are up by 12, but our star has 3 fouls. Maybe the 3rd or 4th possession, the whistle blows, ref calls a foul on #2, out star.

Problem is, the fouls should have been on #21. #2 was on the complete opposite side of the floor.

After realizing he had been erroneously assessed his 4th foul, he came over to the bench as we were subbing him out and said “coach, that is BS. That wasn’t on me”.

He didn’t say it very loud, but the official who had called the foul was at the scorers table and got rabbit ears. He assessed a T for foul #5.

Superstar done.

We held on to win the game by 3, but what should have been a comfortable game with our stud turned into a white knuckle affair over a truly awful call.

Another bad one. Once again, did you make excuses for those refs when you were talking to your team after the game?

also a little different for same reason as last one.....the refs know that awarding a basket on a fake shot is not within the rules and the guy who called it OOB had to know.

Show me we’re I made excuses for the ref here?

Always said it was a terrible call.

What I always told players is that you control what you can control. Can’t worry about the refs. Play your game.

Ironically, the ref overhearing me said that is precisely what led to call #3 where I got the boot.

I get that....but only one person seems to be making excuses for why this one was OK.

I mean, in the end, we can say it was as it didn't cost the recipient of the bad call. I really don't get trying to make excuses for that one, though. Was just bizarre that somehow the guy who called the original OOB because a player was touching then holding the ball while OOB couldn't somehow make sure a fake shot taken well after that would not be counted.

Again, I said it was terrible from the start.

Never made excuses.

I did speculate how it might have happened because you asked me to.

And my speculation was pretty close to what the actual refs said when talking about how they made such a terrible call.

*The Cavs are sending a package to the Pacers that includes Ricky Rubio’s expiring contract, lottery-protected 2022 first-round pick and two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

the Cavs even kept the Spurs 2nd round pick and gave up their own as the 2nd 2nd rounder? nice......not a huge deal but ill take that.

Can you link to the 'excuses'? I haven't seen any.

and helps us tonight, as well. Good timing. Not that he can play for us....but he wont play for them.
While Markkanen is out- what do you think happens?

LeVert start at the 2 and push Okoro to the 3?

When Markkanen comes back --- LeVert has to start at the 2 right and prob. push Okoro to the bench?

You don't recall him trying to explain why this might have happened (which would be excuses) or trying to mitigate it because of other potential bad calls?
