I said it was a terrible call.

Explaining how it could happen is not the same as making excuses for it.
There is no explanation for how it happened....and you also tried to compare it to other perceived bad calls - the kind we see in every game.

Right? I mean, I can agree often he's right that refs take unwarranted abuse and are better at their jobs than given credit.....but when they mess up beyond the normal mess up it's OK to say so.

I agree that sometimes the refs gotta take some shit they shouldn't.

But that was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Giving the bench a T for something that happened after the play was blown dead.

And the kicker is last night's crew chief admitted they got the call wrong. Just glad the refs incompetence didn't coast the Cavs the win.

Luka is generational talent good.

As long as he doesn't show up fat, AGAIN, to start the Season he will be a multiple time MVP.

Youngins to watch?

Ja, Mobley, Scottie Barnes, Herro, Kuminga, Garland, Ball * bees version* , Giddey, Duarte and baby Wagner in Orlando * they have two *, Tre Mann, Davion Mitchell.

Some of those guys are obvious. But, they are so damn good I mentioned them anyway.
What does Maxey need to do to make this list?
16.9 PPG
4/1 assist to turnover ratio
40% from 3
And this is his first year at any level playing PG.

There ws no excuse and they completely botched it. And guess what? Botched calls will happen again, and again, in every game. Some missed calls will be really bad, like this one. You can cry about it every game or accept it as part of the game, like refs controlling football games.
"cry about it every game" when I am far more likely to realize the refs make bad calls all the time and it's an incredibly difficult sport to referee? Uh.....OK?

Botched calls will happen again and again...yep. Point most were making is this was one like none of us have ever seen.

I do wonder if protesting a game is still a thing in the NBA and, if so, did the cavs protest the call (not that it matters...really just wondering if still a thing). I think it has happened in the NBA but I don't recall. Guessing most remember when it happened in MLB (at least once).

I’m just hoping they don’t give up too much

I agree with you. I’ve said this before, Cavs shouldn’t be focused on acquiring a short term piece. Their best is yet to come when some of the younger guys grow. LaVert could be a dude that helps short term and long term though.

Hell, giving the T was even OK as I doubt it's OK for Davis to tap their guy in the face/neck. But that is 1 shot.

Yes. Go ahead and make a move to help this year, but not at the expense of future seasons (which I'm sure is the approach). If having Levert makes us better than we'd be with whatever we give up for him then please have at it.

You don't cry about it every game...but I know a Cavs fan here who does.

I would think that adding LeVert to play alongside Garland makes a sign and trade with Sexton down the line easier. Or Sexton stays and LeVert plays for Cavs the role he played for Nets as a legit 6th man of the year candidate and offense off the bench.

Can you imagine all the tampons needed in Brooklyn if Simmons goes there to play with Durant and Kyrie?
I feel kinda sorry for Nash but I mean not really. Harden isn’t exactly a saint either.

To be clear, if it’s picks…perfectly fine with it. We are talking about likely 21-27 pick range and they have a ton of valuable 2nd’s. But if they give up Sexton or Okoro I would be disappointed

The missed call on Heyward if a foul is the type they miss throughout every game (or just don't call). Love was grabbed by at least one player. Want to argue they often let those go end of game I wouldn't disagree, but it was a foul.
Neither compares to a botched call that was like no call any of us have ever seen.

If you can try to not be biased here, how is it possible the guy who blew the play dead/OOB could not have known this should not have happened like it did?

I agree. Never said the calls were the same level of bad.

The Cavs won the game. That is all that matters.

If you are asking me to speculate?

The guy who blew the call dead was not the same guy who saw the contact on the shooter. That guy didn’t know when the contact occurred.

The guy who saw the contact somehow missed that it was a good bit after the whistle.

Terrible call, but one of those situations where 2 refs are putting together a puzzle where neither has all the pieces. And they misconstrued the timeline of events.

Nope.

Try again.

That is not what I did at all.

I said the normal bad calls that happen every game canceled out the impact of this 1 particularly bad call. And your team still won.

I will say I haven’t been a huge fan of LeVert but he could be finally getting back to form. From sources he plays good with Allen too, so that is a plus. I just think giving up Sexton in this deal would be tough idk, maybe I am just low on LeVert. Great scorer and it’s what they need but idk. I guess you don’t need Sexton AND LeVert. I would honestly rather them give up 2 1st’s and then still have Sexton as a trade asset or even another threar off the bench

Oh what Davis did was way outta line. Have never seen a player on the bench do something like that. And he is probably deserving of something- fine or missed games. But you can't have bench players ever doing stuff like that. WTF was he thinking?

I disagree.

The whistle was well before the ball ever got close to the corner. It was clear as day. It was so obvious I at first thought they were counting the basket becuase they thought the 3 at the top of the key went in.

This was just impossibly wrong.

He asked me to speculate on how they got it impossibly wrong.

That is what I did.

But that is not correct. This is beyond the outcome. People should be responsible for making mistakes, it’s different for every occupation but if you compare to brain surgery that person is dead bc of a mistake that someone rarely makes. This never happens, we’ve never seen it. No call MAKES up for it. The crew is responsible and they should see a consquence for their actions. It is a tough job but there are a lot of tough jobs, doesn’t excuse the clear and blatant missed call.
We should see a suspension and that isn’t over the top. It comes with the occupation.
