I would love to see them go after Contreras from Cubs but Jerry already said no moves for catcher will be made plus it is probably less likely Cubs deal him now that they signed Stroman.
I recall that Lookout landing did a hypothetical trade proposal for him and I liked it as well.

I guess we're going to have to hope for a big offseason improvement from Cal Raleigh and that Tom Murphy can go back to the player he was in 2019 as opposed to the player he was in 2021.

All the scuttle bud with Conforto is he wants to be in Seattle and even possibly giving a hometown discount because he wants to come home. But that also means a multi year deal and I just don’t think Jerry is there. Ever time Jerry has been asked about the needs for the off-season one of them is a left handed power bat. And he is the opposite of Cruz where he could play in the field to give days for Lewis and Haniger to DH. But then, there is the JRod issue. Signing him might mean that Jerry has to trade Haniger…preferably for a starting catcher. Raleigh really changed my perception of him in Tacoma last year but he and Raleigh going into the season as the catchers is a big weakness IMO. As of now Raleigh’s role should be backup with the ability to take innings from the starter and Murphy’s role is to figure out how replicate 2018 instead of the rest of his baseball card.
I think we're on the same page that unless Raleigh steps up and Murphy plays like he did in 2019, catcher is going to be a major hole in this roster.

I find it ironic that the Mariners have a catching problem while two former Mariners catchers (Narvaez and K-Nino) were All-Star selections.

For all the good that Dipoto has done during this "step back" one thing that I feel that never comes up is that the Omar Narvaez trade for Adam Hill (who?) was probably the worst decision Dipoto has ever made. It was an awful decision at the time and looks even worse in hindsight.

The outfield situation is definitely complicated, I will say I don't want to trade Haniger. It sounds like he was a big player in convincing Robbie Ray to come here and after the article he posted in the Players Tribune, it seems like he has really stepped up into a leadership role and really wants to be here.

MLB veteran Tim Federowicz named Tacoma Rainiers Manager

Catcher played in over 1,000 professional games, helped USA to silver medal at Tokyo Olympics....
that works for me........

he has no infield guys....but...we will see about that...the major league...rule 5 is still...waiting..not that it will help at tacoma...

It sounds like he was a big player in convincing Robbie Ray to come here and after the article he posted in the Players Tribune, it seems like he has really stepped up into a leadership role and really wants to be here.
The Narvaez deal that no one, I think even Jerry could justify at the time or now. I am not saying Raleigh can’t eventually become a full time starter, I just don’t personally think he is there yet, so I put it in the box of essential needs for next year. But you also can’t forget they needed an everyday all star caliber OF and Jerry dealt him for Marco.

I don’t want Haniger gone and truly don’t think Jerry does either. But it is an issue because it clogs a hole. IMO it is Lewis or Haniger that needs to be dealt and has to dealt if they sign a Conforto. I really think Lewis getting injured yet again threw a big fat monkey wrench in his plans. He was going to have Lewis, Haniger and then was going to dangle Kelenic or JRod for an ace…but they just got him. JRod is the best prospect the Mariners have ever had (including ARod) so he will be given a chance, and depending on the CBA the Mariners might have to force him into the starting lineup.

DH is a vital position for them to have as a utility type position because as of now Lewis, Haniger and Toro will be splitting time there and if Bryant or Story signs then they will take turns when Toro plays the field. Which is kind of point that as much as I love Cruz, it takes making about 4 trades plus signing him.

I am no fan of Jerry but would truly hate to be him right now. There are glaring weaknesses and allegedly Semien was the number 1 target and they got massively outbid. There is literally no reason to sign with the Rangers when they won’t make the playoffs for the entire time of Semien and Seager playing together.

The Ray deal and getting Seager back cheaper and they trump the Rangers IMO. I am still all in on the A’s deal though and that is my pipe dream. Ray, the A’s deal, JRod coming up and making minor deals for a starting catcher who play 3/5 of the games and this off-season is as good as it could be. Locking down a 3B and 2B was the goal but the Ray deal and the deals I propose really makes the Mariners a favorite in the AL next year.

no...that is ..not true....they dont need to deal haniger..or lewis...and can still...add conforto...the quesion...is...from my point of view....

is bryant..or story....
simien was...but was not interest..in seattle..so that is the end of that...36 more HRs yeah..that would make a diff...and it not necesarally..jedi...
you cant sell...someone...something..they dont..want....with ball players..it is the same.....
and it could be he just likes texas......

mariners need..225..to 250 HRS...more is better....
if i go
haniger..
and coforto//..at maybe 30+a piece...i will go with a 70 number for both
france..i will go with..25..crawford 10
so
105...so far..not expecting any from frazier..but prob get 5
110
bryant..30...overshooting there
still only at
140

im at160
then..i need..a HR hitter..in Cf....that guy..is trammell......not julio...yet for julio

if he has fixed his strike outs...trammell..could give ya..25 i would say....but still only at..185...that is about..40..short...

the bench prob will get ya those other 40..raliegh,toro,moore. murphy..and...yes...........lewis..could get ya...to..250.....with 25..just in time

mariners may have to do it the hard way...but get it done..

if...they sign..bryant and story.....and conforto as well...

then a trade,,should be in order.//unless toro still has minor league time..then..not..and haggerty..should be on the 40man...as insurance for everyone........if they want to go to the series....

then toro traded...they could use..a CF..for insurance....or get a..... 1B/dh....L/L...like beer..from arizona...would be at tacoma....and they could use a ss
as well there...but that will prob be....MILB free agent....

there seems maybe one more trade....some bull pen guys...one or 2...and maybe toro...only maybe..on toro....cuz you would have to sign story..first..

and with angels comming on they could use him....and frazier....they would be stocked..up...????...yep...but it is a long season...ya need all..those guys

and the guys at tacoma...

still could mean a toro trade...if that happens...a lot of teams ..could use toro...
