I wonder if the Oilers swing a deal for MAF which would free up the necessary cap space to bring a certain free agent defenseman on board for Vegas.

Yeah, it's difficult to see him doing that. Not many other viable choices out there for the Oilers (Dell, Howard, ...). They might be looking to bring back Mike Smith at this point.

Yeah, if he didn't have that much term remaining, it would certainly be more attractive. Could easily see him being an inaugural member of the Kraken (Spokane native would be a nice touch).

I guess Barrie is hoping to pad his stats on the lethal Oilers PP for a richer payday in a year's time, but that's quite the gamble settling on a 1 year deal.

A lot of Flames fans don't like the Tanev signing and certainly the term is a little long (I would have preferred one less year) but if you were to tell me that you're swapping out Talbot and Brodie for Markstrom and Tanev, in my mind, that makes the Flames a better team.
