TBH, I liked it better when they let the Cup guys run as many races as they wanted. That really gave you a better measuring stick of who the top up and comers were when they were racing Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards every week.
People complained that the cup drivers were making it too hard for the younger guys, but if there weren't some big names in the race nobody watched. Plus, it was cool to watch a guy try to sweep a weekend at one track

The thing with that argument is, all those Cup drivers were racing against Cup stars when they were in the Busch Series too. Mark Martin, the Waltrips, Bodines, Dale Jarrett, Dale Sr, Jeff Gordon etc all used to dip into the Busch Series regularly.

For guys like Harvick and Kyle Busch, there's really no benefit other than a check and a potential trophy for them since they have already have HOF careers and tons of seat time, but drivers are getting Cup rides now at much younger ages than they used too. Guys like William Byron and Erik Jones could benefit by getting more seat time at different tracks.

Conspiracy theory time:

Kyle Busch threw that truck race last night and let Chase Elliott win.

He closed to right on his back bumper with like 10 to go and then started slowly falling back.

Think he decided to let Chase have that one and not take away the 50k bounty Kevin Harvick and the Camping World CEO both had for a Cup regular to beat Busch in a truck race

Something had to have broke on Harvick's car to go from comfortably leading to barely hanging on for a top 10.

It was just a chain reaction with no intent, but damn, Jimmie Johnson just took out a lot of cars.

Stenhouse, Reddick, Custer and Bowman are all probably done, Kurt Busch got enough damage to where he'll probably just be logging laps. Dibenedetto and Preece also spun, not sure if they hit anything.

Sucks. Reddick was just starting to make some moves. I think he could he fought his way up for another top 10 when the top groove completely comes in.

Jimmie Johnson is starting to make a habit of running into Stenhouse.

Denny deserved to wreck out there. Had no business being in the lead. Chase Elliott was clearly ahead of him when the caution came out a couple laps ago, but NASCAR can't use common sense to see Elliott a full car length ahead at the time of caution, but use scoring loops.

I swear, Brad Keselowski pulls more wins out of his ass than any driver in history. He has 32 career wins, and at least 20 of them have been from pit strategy, fuel mileage or something like this.

Logano's actually going to talk to somebody without his daddy and pit crew with him. Still a pussy though.

And before @BPNAZ comes in crying about Chase Elliott's luck, that was all on him.

LOL @ Joey calling out someone for not being a man and LOL @ him saying he forced something out of anybody. Least intimidating driver in NASCAR history. Elliott was at fault, but I find it easy to believe that Elliott doesn't respect Joey enough as a man to apologize to him.

Kind of a throwback Bristol race. Lots of beating and banging, and lots of wrecks. That's what made Bristol everyone's favorite track before they tried to fix what wasn't broke and fucked everything up. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come for future Bristol races.

Also can't remember a race where so many guys leading/fighting for the lead wrecked.

It's my least favorite track.

It and all the others that are just like it.

There are no other tracks just like it. None even close really. Martinsville is the closest in length, but it has much sharper, flat turns, while Bristol is the second highest banked track in NASCAR.

I love short tracks. Wish there were more short tracks and less superspeedways.

Going to Atlanta next week. If it weren't for Fontana and Michigan, it would probably be my least favorite track. Have some good childhood memories there, but that's its only redeeming quality. It's been a long time since I was sitting at the start/finish line with my grandpa for Earnhardt edging out Labonte, and the same seats the next year for Harvick edging out Gordon.

Darrell Waltrip from 1985 to 1995. It seemed like any race that ended under rain or a long green would see Waltrip win, because everyone else pitted.
