7?

You counting the pick swaps and SG-A?

Even if the number was 7, it wasn't too much.

They paid that price to land George AND Kawhi.

Couldn't get one without the other.

Plus, it kept him from going to the Lakers.

Yep, it was 5 firsts (3 of the Clippers own, 2 they received from Miami - the second of which is lottery protected), 2 pick swaps, SGA & Gallo.

I think Horford could be a big loss for Boston.....he was a big man that could score a bit, rebound, pass and defend.....

One thing to factor in is that the Celtics have had far more picks than an ordinary team the past many years.

More picks equals more chances for "failure"... (I put failure in quotes because the majority of draft picks don't pan out as hoped).

But I don't think it's true that the Celtics have a terrible record on balance... good move/picks include:
  • Jayson Tatum (including the robbery of the 76ers which went along with this pick)
  • Jaylen Brown (many suggested this was a reach at the time)
  • Terry Rozier (this mid-1st-round selection was labelled a reach at the time)
  • Semi Ojeleye (2nd rounder)
  • Avery Bradley (I believe he was a mid to late 1st rounder)
Going way back there was Tony Allen as a real nice pick... and from the way, way too soon department I really like Carsen Edwards (again: the C's swindled Philly to gain this pick)
Oh, I agree.

Everyone lands a few duds.

My point is, Danny should have pulled the trigger on a trade.

In fairness, this is Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

Had Hayward not gotten hurt, who knows what could have been?

That was the beginning of the end.

Yeah, I know.

It was a humongous haul.

So, no need to exaggerate the facts.

I will worry about him leaving in 2 years.

Hopefully, the Clippers will do enough to entice both into signing a Super Max.

Marc Spears just said on the Jump exactly what @shopson67 said.

Kawhi took the shorter deal to get the 10 year supermax.

Lots can change in 2 years.

But, that's the plan.

Pressure still on the Clippers to produce.

I know it's just Summer League.

But, Damn....

I really like Terrance Mann.

Another dog on defense who can guard 3 positions.

Well, 2 until he eats a duffel bag full of cheeseburgers.

His scoring and rebounding will be easily replaced by Kanter. Passing and defending is where they'll miss him

Kanter can give them the same amount of points and more rebounds IMO

It's definitely initially all about the money. It does keep the pressure on the Clips as you said, "just in case shit"

Lmfao!!!

Yeah, he's just waiting for LeBron to be 2 years older to join him.

His deal will be up the same time as Paul George and then they can both sign $200m Super Max with the Lakers so that they can team up with AD.

I agree that this is their likely plan. :dhd:
