Not saying at all I'd be opposed, but I can also see the other side. I'd rather contracts have less guarantees in NBA and MLB
Of course you would. Those poor owners!

correct....and likely the "other jobs" you mention don't start their employees with salaries of 500K minimum.
Many of these athletes never finish college and have no real skills outside of playing a sport.

Has nothing to do with making the owners more money. Try and understand this.......if an owner releases a guy who isn't living up to his deal, chances are he replaces him with another player.

You know, like nearly every business. Well, except those who fire people strictly to eliminate positions. I've been following the NFL for a while. Ever known them to make rosters smaller?

Missing the point. If you make $450k for 3 years then get cut after taking 5 concussions and a knee injury, plus spend money living your life, plus not having much in the way of job prospects....no amount of investing will save you

Those employees don't destroy their bodies and brains their entire youth

Yep. Other than guys like Brady, Roethlisberger, etc. NFL players are the lowest paid, have the shortest window of time to make their money, the negative effects of playing are worse and sometimes don't show up until several years after they are done playing.

Spoken like someone who doesn't see the players as people. The guy who got cut, the guy who took 5 concussions in his youth and young adult life playing to make the owners richer, how does it help that guy when he's cut before earning his contract and some other guy is hired?

Guaranteed contracts. Works fine for the other leagues.

And that worker they cast aside broken and destitute, fuck him

Not sure anyone has disagreed with these comments and I think all are true.

Right, so that guy who gives everything for $600k per for 4 years pre-tax before getting cut with permanent damage to his body...can't guarantee his signed contract like they do in other sports. Fuck that loser.

Sure I see them as people. Both the guy losing his job and the one getting a job.

As has been said, stronger union and/or weaker owners in the other sports. Owners would love to dump or lessen the guaranteed deals in their sports. It's not because they are nice.

Year one (and other money) is guaranteed in most deals. And it doesn't help the guy who got cut, but helps the guy who gets his job.....like every business.

Of course, in many businesses owners cut jobs/positions. I note you didn't answer if you've ever seen this done in the NFL. Been watching 40+ years and can't say I have.

Right you just don't care as long as the owners can save a little money voiding deals and cheaping out on medical care and pensions

Maybe that loser should have taken advantage of his free education most don't receive?

$600k per year is more than most Americans make. If these morons don't know how to invest their earnings then too bad for them. I have zero empathy for them.

Actually these players make money for their schools and should be paid accordingly. The NCAA is wrong on this one.

Don't disagree one bit there, and said so......but still could take advantage of the free education offered.
