Shane brought up his stats from last night as if they were impressive. They weren't. They were pretty average because his high point total was based on inefficient shooting and his +/- was worse than the final scoring margin.

And Porter was far worse but had a plus/minus of zero.

And, yes, his game last night was at worse a solid game.

3 games in an Matisse Thybulle is arguably an All-NBA defensive player. That doesn't mean he will be when the other 79 games are played.

I am sick to death of you Cavs fans constantly hyping your players while ignoring the fact that your team stinks. And Thompson is probably the recipient of the most undeserved praise by you guys.

FTR, I don't dislike the Cavs in any way. But when you guys come in and post a state line for a defensive minded player that was pretty average while your team got blownout and gave up 129 points is more than a little ridiculous.

TT had a solid game. Anyone who watched could see that. Also off to a nice start to the season. will it keep up at this level? I doubt it. Think he's more in the 12-14 ppg and 10-11 rpg area.

There is absolutely no reason to bring up +/- in any conversation. It is pointless, one of worst stats, surprised they don't get rid of it. The losing team will mainly have the - guys, the winning team will have the + guys. You will see + guys on the losing team once in a while...the stat is meaningless.

More so I was adding to people saying he was overrated and he continues to produce...he is shooting 60% averaging 19 ppg 12 rpg through 3 games...short sample, but pretty good for a guy that isn't any good and just overpaid.

We have been talking about TT for years...so it wasn't just about the one game, it has a bigger picture. But thank you for bringing up +/- it adds nothing to the conversation lol

Porter played in the regular rotation so will another apology be coming? Played against Bucks starters and backups.

And, no, I don't think +/- is meaningless. But it's also not an end all be all stat. There are times you are paired with guys who shit the bed who bring you down in that category, and times the opposite can happen.

There are 3 teams on this site basically: Heat, Lakers and Cavs. I don't know why this is shocking...I understand one Cavs fan kinda argues over pointless stuff but I think you are really getting your panties in a wad over nothing haha

In this discussion was kind of pointless to bring it up, I agree. Wouldn't call it a meaningless stat, but to agree can be overblown.

would add I'm really not sure which Cavs have been so overvalued recently. Pretty sure all the cavs fans have said TT wont continue on his current pace and will be more in the 11-14 ppg and 10-11 rpg area. And, yes, those numbers go way down if he's traded to a team who doesn't need scoring.

I'm just tired of constantly hearing about irrelevant players as if they are relevant. In particular Tristan Thompson. The insipid Thompson/Whiteside debate which was relevant about 5 years ago being the worst example.

I don't have a problem with Cavs fans talking about their team. But can we talk about something interesting rather than crap like "Tristan Thompson is actually good". He's not terrible. He's slightly above league average. And getting paid as if he were a near all-star.

FTR, of the teams you mentioned the Lakers are the only one who have a large following here. The Heat following is basically one guy, who talks all hoops, and a couple of occasional posters. The Cavs are basically 3 guys with a couple who post a LOT. The Celtics and Sixers and Warriors all have significant contributors as well. The Clips have @Mecca.

As for TT in general.....not like anyone has said he's an all star. Evene the Cavs fans seem to see him for what he is. A solid role player and, yes, when it comes to talent any team would want him. Salary a hindrance, sure, but he's not really overpaid based on today's contracts.

Nope. But a big shooting 8-18 going to the line 1 time isn't what I consider a good game. Is it a terrible game? No. But hardly a noteworthy performance statistically speaking.

You are free to say that he actual play was better than his stat line.
