It's just about as much managing fan expectations too. There's a few different scenarios at play here:

1) If the Warriors absolutely suck all year, then there's no pressure for Klay to come back at all. Relatively few questions will be raised about this issue and Warriors will punt the year.

2) If the Warriors are mediocre, say around .500 or slightly below that, do questions/expectations start to arise around Klay coming back? Probably. Klay could potentially put them over the top to a big playoff push and a strong finish.

3) If the Warriors for some reason excel (highly unlikely) and they want Klay back to make a real push for a championship.

Two out of those three situations the team, Kerr, Players are going to be inundated with questions about Klay all year. Better to hedge those expectations early.

They have a pretty solid starting lineup but the bench is pretty lackluster. I can see 50-32 as a decent ceiling but in the West more likely a few games over .500

But a lot hinges on the main 3 staying healthy

Ummmmm

Are you referring to Boston?

They went to the finals 6 times in my lifetime.

That's pretty relevant.

As for the millennials, they probably think the Bulls fall into that category and that Jordan is just a clothing line.

Both your fanbases has reason to TRY to devalue the others accomplishments.

Doesn't change the fact that they have the most chips and you guys are #2 on the list.

Referring to the Browns.

However, for argument's sake, the Lakers/Celtics argument doesn't look so close if you start with the ABA merger, or even go back 50 years. To millenials it doesn't look so good either, with the Warriors eclipsing both probably.

I can't wait for the Warriors to go on a 3 game losing streak and for Monty to come in here and tell us how Steph needs to retire and they need to trade everyone.

Sure.

But, that's manipulating the data to skewer the stats in your favor.

That's like saying if you take away 3pt shooting and overall shooting percentage, Russ Westbrook is better than Curry.

But, who would do that?.....lol

Nothing wrong with that. Gotta respect him wanting to challenge Lebron rather than just join him.

But yeah, I think most of us figured that out when Kawhi said he didn't want to do the "stacked team" thing.

If he goes to the Lakers when they already have Lebron and AD, they become the Warriors of the past few years and you just automatically pencil them into the finals.

By going to the Clips and pairing with PG, they and the Lakers each become one of about 5 teams that could win it.
Gotta give him credit for not making the NBA boring for another couple years

It always makes me laugh when they hire grown ass people to play high schoolers.
So, every movie and TV show with high schoolers makes you laugh?

unfortunately, that could very well be the case...

not quite ready to give up on the season yet, though...
No need to give up, keep watching. But the ending is set barring Brady going down. Kind of like the 2017 Warriors.

He may have been banned. He was getting pretty racist on the NFL boards and he was there a lot because the Niners haven't lost. He's been gone for weeks now.
