We've been through like 4 coaches now and we still cant play a 60 minute game.I think its a lack of leadership personally but on this board is a sin to say that. We will need to do so tonight or it will be do or die from here on out.
AV did call out the top lines so we'll see. Maybe some of those guys are injured or possibly on the downslope. I hope not and they come back tonight.

So fucking frustrating to play the Islanders, but I think we just handed them a game yesterday. Good first period and up 1-0 and then we let them pin us back in our own zone for most of the 2nd period where you have the long change. This was exhausting to watch, let alone endure in person. Even still, we were out of that 1-1 and then gave up a backbreaking goal in the dying seconds of the period.

From then on, they get a fortunate call early in the 3rd, a very lucky bounce on that power play goal and can just sit on their two goal lead.

Either way, I feel like they never stop skating and we occasionally do. That's something we need to learn from fast.

Plenty of positives to take from the game as obviously the line of Laughton, Pitlick and JVR were dominant (which you wouldn't necessarily expect), our defensemen look good pinching in the offensive zone and guys like Konecny and Giroux are definitely due some goals.

Yep their second goal shouldn't have happened. Even if Provy doesn't get it out of the zone they had two players watching in the slot but no one taking stone hands Martin.

It's fucking terrible to think we lost a game based on that bad of a play that late in a period.

That said, there were 2 penalties called on each team in the first two games and in this one, we got shafted a bit with only one power play late. As tight as these games are, it actually made a difference with the lucky Lee pp goal early in the 3rd.

That's about as fucking opportunistic as you can get for the Isles.

I think we are due a couple lucky bounces moving forward, but you have to earn those to some extent also.

If Raffl is healthy, definitely play him over someone like NAK and clearly don't mess with the 3rd line. When JVR looks good on a dominant line, let it be.

I don't mind shaking up the top two lines at all or even inserting Raffl there, again, if he's good to go.

We need to drive to the net and get more pucks on goal with traffic. Varlamov is seeing too many shots and the Islanders clean up too fucking well around his cage.

We're the best faceoff team in the Nhl too but only have 3 more wins through 3 games of this series. Faceoff wins and set plays after them should be a nice edge for us, especially when we have the last change, we have a power play (which is sadly almost never) or when they ice the puck.

I love Carter Hart and think the world of him, but when he feels like he has to carry the team to victory, that is not good for us because he will try to do too much and ultimately let in a soft one. We need to help him out more, especially right around his net.

This is really more of a knock on our coverage right in the dangerous scoring areas more than it is on Hart himself. He's a truly special player at his position, already.

Does anyone think the boycott (which did absolutely nothing) hurt our momentum after the OT win?

You know what would be great. Maybe draw a penalty or two once in a while.

Worse thing is that it was Pro and Couts in front of the net I couldn't trust any two other players more! Both watching behind the net when Niskanen was already on Barzal. Real piss off but either way if they don't play better it won't matter.

Maybe but these guys are pros, the should be in peak condition, an extra day should of helped shake off the cement skates.

Hard to say Las as Hart was able to play but I also had full confidence in Elliot stepping in for a game. Varly was in either way as he was rested after being benched so it didn't affect them.

This team will be ready to run through a brick wall for the win tonight. I know I am.

Right? That’s gotta be a huge shot of adrenaline. And a message that says hey if you win games you can get Lindblom on the ice.
