Hello boys! Hope everybody is being safe. Any chance that the Flyers will try to move up in the draft? I'll take Byfield please, lol.

Lol. I'd take Byfield also! I don't expect them to move up though. Maybe a slot or two, but certainly not into the top 3! I could actually see them trading down and trying to get two 2nd round picks. I kind of see Frost, Zamula, and York as the last of the rebuild prospects. Now maybe they go for some quantity, either for trade bait or to keep a steady stream of cheap depth.

So, team TBD won the lottery on Friday. Each team that loses their play-in round has a 12.5% chance of winning 1st overall and getting Lafreniere.

So we've got:

Pens vs. Habs
Canes vs. Rangers
Isles vs. Panthers
Leafs vs. Blue Jackets

Oilers vs. Blackhawks
Predators vs. Coyotes
Canucks vs. Wild
Flames vs. Jets

Who do we want to win or lose and have a chance to get Lafreniere? Pronman (Athletic) has him as his 4th highest rated prospect in the last 5 years. Trying to eliminate hindsight, he's got Dahlin, Matthews, and Laine above him. #1 last year, Jack Hughes, is 5th.

My top 5 power rankings for who I do NOT want to get Lafreniere:
1. Pens, obviously
2. Canes, I think they're kinda loaded and will be a cup contender soon and for a while. Adding a star up front would concern me. They do need a goalie though I suppose.
3. Rangers, a little further behind in their rebuild, but I don't like the idea of the Rangers having Lafreniere, Kakko, Zibanejad and Panarin up front with Shesterkin in goal.
4. Leafs. I might even push them further down. They already have a ton of firepower up front, their problem as it has been for 4 years is that they don't play defense. So Lafreniere I think isn't that impactful for the Leafs unless they're willing to trade one of their other stars for someone who plays defense.
5. Jets. Habs, Isles, and BJs don't scare me. Panthers are in the running for #5 to round out the east. But in the end, I think the Jets a real good squad and a star up front could really make them a threat.

Kalynuk a Flyers 7th round pick who turned into a promising young defenseman wasnt signed within the 30 day period and is now a free agent. We are still able to sign him. We are pretty deep in the defense department going forward.

Some people seem to think the Flyers still have a decent shot at him. Honestly, I don't see it. I think he can be a 6/7 guy in the NHL next year, maybe even a 5 on some teams. He's 7th at best on the Flyers depth chart behind Provorov, Niskanen, Sanheim, Myers, Hagg, and Ghost at least. Sounds like re-signing Braun is at least being considered which would have him 8th. Then you've got Morin out there still. Friedman is an RFA. Zamula will at least be with the Phantoms next year.

If I'm Kalynuk and I want to play in the NHL, the Flyers are out haha.

Vorobyev reported to sign a three year deal to play in the KHL.

Stinks that he couldn't seem to put it all together at the NHL level. Good AHL player.

Twitter is saying EDM and TOR for the hub cities this morning.

Also sounds like the NHL/NHLPA negotiating a whole bunch of stuff. Return to Play details, but also a CBA extension through 2026, which includes a return to the Olympics in 2022 and 2026.

Sounds promising! Tweeters saying a player vote to ratify could come this weekend.

They better find a way to get this season finished as basketball may not get done due to the rise in virus in Florida and the NHL will have the whole world watching.

Kalynuk to sign with Blackhawks
probably for the best. as I mentioned a couple weeks, the primary reason to not sign with Philly has to be looking for an easier path the PT in NHL.
