I think they’re clearly a better team than NYI and CBJ. I’m also not afraid of Toronto one bit now that Reilly and Muzzin are out. They barely had goal prevention with those guys, without them they’re going to hemorrhage goals against.
Boston, Tampa, Florida in the Atlantic
Washington, Pittsburgh, Carolina, Philly, NYI in the Metro
As good as Carolina is, you'd have to think that losing Dougie Hamilton for the season will hurt them significantly at some point too. He had 40 points in 47 games, was a +30 and led the team in ice time. They are 2-0-1 since he went down, but I believe that they'll eventually drop some extra games.
Either way, it's clear that we can beat these teams head to head, so there's plenty of time to catch and pass them via that route.
After that bad road trip out west, we've managed to beat the top four teams in the Nhl, two of them in regulation.
We all know this team can best anyone, anywhere at this point.
Obviously it's just a matter of keeping that and adding consistency from night to night now, no matter who we are playing.
