Disappointed!! Thiem was playing the better of the two but Nadal is the ultimate grinder. What a lame way to win matchpoint on opponent’s error.

As Johnny Mac said, I can tell the way he went after that overhead that it wasn't going to be pretty.

That unforced error on Rafa's 2nd serve at 5-5 in the TB did him in.

Amazing match

Amazing tournament.

Staying up 3 of these past 4 nights to watch incredible matches on the men's side been amazing.

Likely the last extremely late night at the open as I don't thin Millman can play with Novak tomorrow night

Cmon Isner! He won the first set, and lost in 4.

Disappointing result, because he was playing well, and I just want him to stop losing to Del Potro at majors. I want him to get to the next round. I want him to keep having good runs.

I know he can beat Del Potro at a major. Just do it. :(

Another terrific QF match.

Some good tennis over the past day. I think this Thiem guy could be on the verge of greatness.

I am predicting a score like 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 today!! That’s being generous to Millman! LOL ( like Fed wasn’t generous enough gift wrapping the second set after having two set points on his own serve )

Not a bad performance by Millman as the ESPN guys stated. Biggest difference is Djokovic is playing much better than Fed did. Millman play is not much different than it was on Tuesday night.

Best news for the remaining 4 men is that the weather for the semis and finals is similar to what they're used to while playing in Europe for most of the year.

High 70's on Friday and low 70's on Sunday. Likely under 70 degrees by the time the finals start

Well, he was already 7 - 6 against Cilic, and is now 8 - 6.

Point was Cilic beat him here when it mattered most which was in the finals of his only GS finals appearance.

I could bet you money if you ask Kei if he would rather be 8-6 vs Cilic or 1-13 vs Cilic with that one win coming at the US Open finals then he is going with 1-13.

Agree, but it doesn't have to be that dire.

The more often Kei beats Cilic, the more it seems that the 2014 USO was an off-day for him.

Let's say Kei wins the next 3, to improve to 11 - 6. And they then meet in the SF of the 2019 USO.

At that point, given the stronger H2H, and given that Kei has beaten him multiple times in majors, Kei would have to be favored.

I'm just looking ahead, and it's starting to look like if they meet in the future, Kei might have the mental and physical edge.

Think about David Ferrer vs. Nadal, for example. Ferrer got Nadal early in their meetings, including the 2007 USO 4th round. But then Nadal started reeling off a lot of wins.

Ferrer had a few early wins in majors (2007 USO, 2011 AO), but as time went on, those would be the rare chances.

Maybe Kei starts to win a bunch against Cilic, and it will look like the 2014 USO was a distant memory.

Maybe. We will see.

Also, it's possible that Cilic's best chance to win is in less than 5 sets.

Kei's record in 5 sets matches is 6 - 1 at the USO.

And, while Cilic was getting into Kei's service games for most of the match, once it got to a 5th set, Cilic started faulting.

So maybe in this matchup, if it gets to a 5th set, then most signs point to Kei.
