But they did it with Blanco as well. That’s why I don’t think it is a typo/misunderstanding. I think the rules have actually changed this year.
I've wondered if COTs has been updated at all in the last few years. If not, I don't know where that could be easily checked.

Link?

He went 2-4 in today's game. After being released?
His player bio on milb.com listed him as released yesterday. These are his last three transactions listed:

137.png
June 10, 2018 San Francisco Giants signed free agent C Trevor Brown to a minor league contract.
t105.png
June 10, 2018 C Trevor Brown assigned to Sacramento River Cats.
t105.png
June 9, 2018 Sacramento River Cats released C Trevor Brown.

Interestingly, Myles Schroder no longer shows up on the RiverCats' roster. He is listed as "assigned to new team/level" on his player page status. He's slashing .277/.333/.471. It would stink for him to get demoted so Sacramento could continue to carry three light hitting catchers (Check out their stats page, 3 of the bottom 4 hitters in OPS are the three catchers - not counting guys already demoted or released).

I need to correct that last statement, its 3 out of the bottom 5 hitters. Rutledge is a mere 1 for 21 and Tomlinson is 3 for 21 since his move to AAA. The other hitters with OPS of under .700 have either been sent to Richmond (Arnold, Gomez) or released (Jensen, Sanchez). I just don't understand the need to carry three catchers who cannot hit.

Meh.

Very limited playing time (read, SSS), and even then, he has a batting average and that’s about it.

Sure, no allstar, but OBP higher than his career avg and frankly I thought he was kind of washed up. And SSS? I think he has like 215 ABs this year so far (about double what we've seen of Hanson).

Please note I'm not at ALL suggesting I wish he were here, not one bit. Hanson >> Span I have no doubt. But I was surprised he's not useless.

I was only looking at his Seattle numbers. If you include his Tampa numbers, he even loses the batting average.

I guess if you saying that essentially career numbers is good, I guess I agree.

Here's a little video about potential international signing Marco Luciano:

Also just before they talked about Luciano, they were discussing Victor Victor, the top Cuban player in this class. He was late to classify and with the new bonus rules it is tough to say what teams will be in on him. Look for the Giants to possibly acquire some bonus pool money from other teams (like the Orioles for instance) and chase Victor Victor.

I would pay any amount of money to sign a guy named Victor Victor.

Anyone seen "Airplane!"?

That movie was the first thing I thought about when I saw his name. Dude could wear his first name on his jersey and get away with it.

So Far the Giants have signed Marco Luciano, Jario Pomares and Luis Matos, three of the top players in this class. Luciano is considered the best or second best in the class.

Wait, you may ask, did the Giants sign Fox for over $6 million? And haven't others in the past gotten double-digit figures? So is Luciano not as good as them?

Well, the new CBA royally fucked international amateurs by creating a bonus pool system. Teams are extremely capped out now and it's a hard cap, no going over. Luciano is a freaking stud, don't let the money fool you.

Giants have used $4,300,000 of their $4,983,500 pool. They can trade for about $3 million more if they so choose (Victor Victor). All signings under 10k don't count against bonus pool

From the few write ups I have seen about Matos, I am kinda Luke-warm on him. How is Pomares?
