Celtics' Kyrie Irving says he's not planning to celebrate Thanksgiving: 'F--- Thanksgiving'
Irving has Native American heritage, and went through a naming ceremony with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe this summer

Maybe he'll use the day to sail across the world?

Meh... he's got the native american card to play on this one.

:noidea:

Does Trump call him Pocohantas?

Obviously, the C's are playing poor basketball right now.

I'm not hitting the panic button yet or anything... but these are the issues I see:

1.) Jaylen Brown is playing really bad basketball. It's not just his shooting (although it's that too)... his head doesn't appear to be in the game the way it needs to be.

2.) Hayward is not 100% of what he used to be yet. This is not unexpected. I actually don't think he is playing badly, all things considered.

3.) The C's as a whole are shooting the ball poorly. They are a 3 ball team that is not shooting the 3 ball well. And it's not for lack of good shots, either... they are getting their fair share of open looks. They're just not hitting them like they're capable of.

4.) Defensive intensity/effort (the supposed calling card of this team) has been inconsistent.

---------

9-9 is disappointing, to say the least. We'll see how they go from here.

damn...

well, I do feel bad for the boys in green. I mean, truly terrible...:heh:

Fair points. I haven't watched them a whole lot. Of your 9 losses, most of them weren't really that big of a deal. Your schedule was pretty brutal to start the season.

But losing to the Knicks at home is alarming to be sure.

We talked about this a week or two ago. Do you think the Celtics need to make a move sooner now?

I honestly think we are getting to the point where you can't keep him. He is not going to restore his value given the current role in Philly, and every day that passes makes him 1 step closer to bust status vs. upside potential in the eyes of trade partners.

I do think they are likely to deal him at this point. Having your agent unilaterally pull you from the roster and then having rumors leak that you want to be traded and then denying it, suggests a problem.

It seems to me that Fultz is simply not ready for high pressure basketball. He's only 20 so that isn't shocking but it does create a problem for him being on the Sixers, where everygame is an expected win and poor play puts pressure on everyone.

If they do float Fultz in trade opportunities I do think there will be a bunch of teams that will be interested. The Sixers will take a huge haircut on his value, certainly, but Fultz definitely has value. But he would likely be better off playing for a team like the Magic or Suns or even the TWolves, if they were to fire Thibs.

Nah.

Still too early to "need" to make any move.

Disappointing but last year everyone was just clicking. People just automatically thought, “more talented players will be coming back”. Well the guys that came back are different players, both Hayward and Kyrie dont play much defense. Still expected to be much better than his bad start

I wouldn't focus on the word need. You can change that to should if you like.
I think Danny Ainge's door is always open... however, he doesn't deal just to deal.

I don't foresee a deal in the near future. The C's would have to be wowed and/or a superstar would have to be on the table... I just don't see either of those happening.

The C's don't need another good player... they've got 8 or 9 of those.

Hayward isn't a bad defender. He may not be all-NBA, but he's not bad.

That aside: this all could still be growing pains. It's relatively early. We'll see how the season progresses.

I like Beal.

Salary matching would be a sticking point there. Marcus Smart can't be traded until mid-January because of when he resigned this past offseason.

Kyrie is crazy. He is crazy. There is no 2 ways about it.

Dude is out of his gourd.

Easily a top 20 player. So much fun to watch play the game. Can take over a game at any time. After Durant he might have the most complete offensive game in the league.

but the dude is bat shit crazy.

I agree with you.

Do the Sixers have a contract they could give up to package with Fultz in a Porter deal?

Because I think he could play a role very similar to what Covington did for the 6ers. Just with more efficient offense and less defense. I honestly think he would be a great fit.
makes no sense cap wise for the Sixers to take Porter after just acquiring Butler. Not realistic at all- money makes it assured not to happen.

if they thought there was a chance of Kyrie leaving, Kyrie for Beale would not be a bad deal

and i would laugh my ass off if Kyrie was on the Wiz. lol

Really makes no sense overall. They need to get a better bench, their starters are FINE. Get a couple role players, picks for Fultz. Korver would be a great pickup. Hope they give us a 1st rounder lolzz

Still need to see guys step up Lebron shouldnt have to go superman mode like he did in Cleveland. They need Ingram to step up and be that second guy. He wont be Kyrie or even Love, but still needs to establish himself as a #2. I understand he is still young. Also, Lonzo seems like he passes TOO MUCH. He isnt aggressive enough, he had a driving layup against Sexton where he could have drawn a foul or 3 point play and he made a bad pass and TO. His unselfishness is a great quality but he needs to level it out some, again young player but still
ingram and ball are still both really young- so you cannot say anything definitively for al ong time- but i watch both guys play basketball and there is nothing that leads me to believe either will be special- that either will be capable of being main guys on a championship contender.

I think the Celtics will eventually be forced to move players just to free up minutes. But they may wait until they feel that Hayward is fully recovered.
