totally ignoring 3 pt shooting in a league whre 3 pt shooting is immensely important when they KNEW they had bad 3 pt shooting?

pretty much ignoring rebounding and defense in the front court?

thinking JaVale Mcgee and Tyson Chandler were legit options

cmon now.

everyone nad their brother knew 3 pt shooting would be a huge detriment to the team the way they built it before the first ball was ever thrown up.

Minus the injuries and AD crap, this roster, despite it's construction, was looking like a solid playoff team which was all that was expected when they didn't get another max level guy.

The difference is that everyone, including Lebron, knew that they were punting as soon as they didn't get a 2nd guy. Once that happened, it was all about next season.

Yes, everyone expected the playoffs as long as Lebron stayed healthy. But that was pretty much it and more about Lebron's greatness and the potential of the kids than anything else.

In Cleveland, they already had the 2nd guy in Kyrie and brought in a 3rd when they traded for Love. So, of course they wouldn't have gotten away with punting any of his seasons.

Cleveland had no cap space nor assets and did better in their offseasons than the one LA just had.

LA market is still a selling point for the Lakers.

The question is:

Does playing with LeBron lessen it.

We will find out this Summer.

The more I think about it, the more I believe they will get Butler.

If they get a good pick and package it with the Kiddie Corps for Davis, this is a completely different conversation.

Heck, they could get Butler, keep the children and bring in a guy like Deandre Jordan.

I don't think guys like Kawhi, Klay, Boogie would care if they wanted to come to LA.

Probably.

It's hard to say if he has done damage to their chances or not.

On the one hand, guys at that level know that they aren't going to be included in any trade talks if Lebron decides to try to play GM again. So, in that regard, I doubt it.

On the other hand, there was speculation before Lebron came to the Lakers that some of the top FA's don't want to play with him because Lebron gets all the credit when they win and little of the blame when they don't.

But then, AD looks like he does want to play with him.

Even this off-season it will be hard to know because guys like Kawhi and Klay have plenty of non-Lebron related reasons to not come to the Lakers.

And if the reason not to ius to have a cleaner cap next year Randle on his deal might be among the easiest guys in the entire league to move. 1 yr, 9 mil and a stud?

But what about JJ Redick? Make a deal for Korver? Ariza or Joe Harris maybe?

You realize that this isn't a fantasy league, right? Just because they make an offer, doesn't mean a guy has to accept it.

If a player like. for example Ellington, was looking for a bigger role than he would have had with the Lakers, why would he sign with them?

We have know idea who else the Lakers spoke to. As soon as they didn't get another max player, saving cap space became more important than who they signed as 1 year roster fillers.

If I remember correctly, Randle's cap hold was a problem.

Add in the fact that he didn't want to be there.

As for Ariza, Korver...

You have to have a willing trade partner.

Tony Parker took a 2 year 10M dollar deal to backup Kemba

Mbah a Moute took a 1 year 4.5M dollar deal- exaclty wha they gave Stephenson.

Brook Lopez got EXACTLY what they gave Beasley

Ellington got HALF of what the Lakers gave KCP

Rudy GAy got basically exactly what Rondo got

Why would a guy who is looking for a 1 year deal so that he can hopefully turn it into a bigger, multi-year deal want to go to a team that is going to give him less playing time?

For those guys, it's not about playing for the Lakers or with Lebron. It's about playing where they can get the most minutes and earn a better contract.
