That's a tough loss for sure dash. A little late and a little high but not really dirty or anything. I guess these kids know the rules and have to adjust but 0.63 seconds is tough to back off in time. Gotta keep it safe though so I understand the penalty.
The one take away I have from it is that if our guy hits an opponent like that, we would likely defend it and say it was just a part of the game. Maybe not all of us but the vast majority of fans would say great hit if the kid doesn't get injured.

I'll say this, if it were 20 years ago, I'd probably say great hit, way to finish your check kid. Now that I'm older and maybe a bit wiser and we know more about concussions, I'm just not on board with that kind of hit anymore. That said, I think the penalty assessed (being tossed out of the game) is punishment enough.

@dash ... Can't argue with that, my friend. I've had my fair share of concussions and the constant headaches and other issues are not fun. Amazing how we get more perspective as we get older, eh.

On another note, looks like the Danes "Cinderella" run is coming to an end thanks to the Russkies. Oh well, it was a fun story. The Danes can hopefully build off of this success.

That's too bad, but the Danes have had a great tourney. Besides, if Team Canada gets another chance to lay a beat down on Mother Russia, I won't have a problem with it.

I don't like that hit at all. That's not finishing your check; it's going after a vulnerable player.

The whole finish your check thing is only really valid when the guy sees the hit coming and possibly has his decision making compromised by the knowledge that he's going to be hit. This is just hitting to hurt and nothing else.

Well, back to the tourney, the USA just dodged a huge bullet and every player should thank Parsons for saving their ass. The Swiss were heads and tails better than the US for the final 40 minutes of that game. I don't know if they had a letdown after the big win over Canada but they looked pretty beatable today.
