Keeping an eye on Matuello, Bennie. Hope he's in Frisco by season's end. Maybe one of our soonest pros, if he stays healthy.

Me too. I am also hoping for a rebound from Brett Martin and Yohander Mendez.Keeping an eye on Matuello, Bennie. Hope he's in Frisco by season's end. Maybe one of our soonest pros, if he stays healthy.

This may not be much of nothing for now, but let us start off this season like last and this will rear it's head again.
Think Rangers should add more free agent pieces (like a closer)? Adrian Beltre's right there with you.
Closer like Holland would be a good short term investment without a lot of risk and would help the bullpen a lot especially since they're probably going to be called on a lot this year
Does signing Holland cost us a draft pick? That could be the reason.
it comes down to money and the fact that the owners do not want to do anything right nowI agree completely. And I don't understand why the team wouldn't make this short term investment. This move, IMO would immensely help the BP, and solidify the other BPer's position and how they'd prepare game in/out.
Not sure. But for me, even if it did, I think it would sure help our situation 'overall' for 2018 to have him. And of course it would also depend on how high the DP is.
you can look at what JD and the owners put together for this season and easily see that they weren't trying to put a competitive team together for this season so forget about HollandI think JD is very cautious about the farm system these days. And I am not sure Holland or someone similar would be that much of a difference maker. If the Rangers were closer to contention, sure. But this year? With Houston expected to dominate and the Angels likely to be in the mix?
Have a strong tendency to agree. With our rotation, there may not be many games to save. Besides with a little luck we may be surprised what develops with Kela and Bush. Yes, it would. I would be willing to gamble that what we could pick up for him at the deadline might very well be more valuable and would help us sooner down the line.Does signing Holland cost us a draft pick? That could be the reason.
I was thinking the same thing in using him as trade bait at the deadline.Yes, it would. I would be willing to gamble that what we could pick up for him at the deadline might very well be more valuable and would help us sooner down the line.
"All Other Clubs: Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Angels, Mets, Phillies, Cardinals, Rangers, Blue Jays
These nine remaining teams would forfeit their second-highest pick and and have their international signing bonus pool reduced by $500K."
I liked the guy but will be surprised if he is able to get it going again as a starter. With the Giants losing 2 of their starters it opened it up for him so I hope he does well.Giants pitcher Derek Holland did an entire midgame interview as Kermit the Frog
I miss the goofy son of a bitch
Oakland used to use that strategy to bolster their farm system a lot.I know it does not mean anything in the grand scheme of things but I would love for us to
