To his credit Landry always seems to show just enough to not get cut. To the FO, he always made sense from a cap hit standpoint...but now as a FA, they will have to pay some real money to keep him.

Mett...I've been a big Mett guy since he got kicked out of UGA for the assault charge or whatever. There has to be something missing for a guy with his size and arm to be barely hanging on in this league.

As it stands now, they don't seem to have much interest in Mett as the QB2...I would rather have a guy like Schaub for $3mil as the QB2 over Landry and draft a young kid as QB3.

Yeah.... I could see Schaub!!!!

I get that, but AP is clearly nearing the end whereas Bell is coming off his rookie deal...I guess the FO will look at AP's deal as the benchmark.

It said in the article that is AP doesn't get signed by the Vikings it would drive the tag price down.....

Sorry, I guess I should of clarified this a little better

That does make sense.

Right now, Zeke's deal offer the most guaranteed cash at just under $25mil.

A 5 yr $35mil/$26mil guaranteed deal would put Bell at the top of he league for guaranteed money and a near the top for overall contract....I think Shady got $40mil/$18mil G

Holy shit, how does that happen? The article failed to mention the acquisitions of Ricardo Matthews & Steve Johnson. I'm guessing that since Ryan Harris failed to make an impact is the main reason that this comp pick is being awarded. Definitely not bitching about it, because a 3rd round pick is phenomenal! Never thought PIT would get anything more than a 6th round pick at best.

So @ATL96Steeler with the combine approaching, FA around the corner, and the draft creeping into view... How soon until we throw out our yearly draft predictions by position? lol. Lots to shake out until we get a better picture... but I'm bored

My early thoughts:
1. OLB
2. CB
3a. RB
3b. S
4. QB
5. TE
6. WR
7. ILB

We were talking about this last week....

They are waiting to see what The Vikings do with AP....
Hope they don't wait to long and fuck it all up!!!
I'm thinkin they use the franchise tag, which would give them until the middle of July to work out a long-term deal. That gives them plenty of time to let the AP deal sort itself out. If no deal is reached, then he plays for the ~$12mil tag.

The article I was reading....still can't find it....if the Vikings cut AP it would take the league average down to 10 or 11 mil, and that is what the F/O is hoping for!!!

Definitely would help with the contract negotiations. I hope they can get the long-term deal done, with one hell of a binding opt-out clause built in to protect them from his offseason issues.

Yep...we've had a good little stretch of weather so I've been working on my golf game here lately.

Will circle back to this in a second.

Steelers Place Franchise Tag On RB Le'Veon Bell - Steelers Depot

Done deal.

I think this sets the tone that PIT really wants this guy, now they will start working on a long term deal....I expect one to get done unless Bell and his agent want to max out at the highest level possible...my thing all along has been the "fuck up" clause has to be in there.

FA...Timmons...with the Bell tag, and AB deal it has to effect the amount they can pay LT...word I'm hearing is they will get something done, but imo it's in LT's court because there will be a team that can pay more. If he leaves they have to think about another ILB in this draft.

Mathews...He was a productive body...and DL is not a place they can afford to lose depth...LT Walton showed something, but they need another big that can rotate. If Mathews is not retained, that should effect the draft.

DWill...either way I think RB will be taken 3 thru 5.

I'm not sure of another FA that will effect the draft much.

In terms of priority your list pretty much marries up with mine. Largely depends what BPA looks like.

OLB...my early pool are names we've already floated out there....Chris Harris might still be my favorite...the kid from Auburn Carl Lawson seems to be climbing in the minds of some Steeler draft heads. In some ways I hope Tim Williams is off the board by 30...part of me doesn't want to touch the kid, another part of me feel like he might be a high ceiling guy you regret leaving on the board. Taco Charlton looks like a 4-3 DE, but some reports show him as an athletic freak type player. Takkarist McKinley may not be the best edge rusher of the group, but I think will be gone by 30 if he runs in the 4.6 range...I'm leaving off a guy or two I'm sure , but if this grouping is gone, I would consider CB at 30.
