Part of the Twins threatening the Tribe would involve a step back by Cleveland....perhaps winning only in the low to mid 90 games range. If the Twins start the season with their current players, 85+ wins could be repeated. Darvish could push them to 90+.

It also comes down to the other youngsters improving. Buxton probably won't ever approach those unfair Trout comparisons, but I don't see why he can't turn into an above average hitter. With his speed and defense, he could still be an All-Star caliber outfielder.

I'm also interested to see Zack Littell if he gets a callup this year. He was a pretty intriguing prospect in NY before the Jaime Garcia trade.

Dixon Machado prolly won't be key to much other than picking first again.

Machado and Iglesias....if they combine to average .250 and field well consider it a win. They'll supply a little speed but no extra-base threat. A double play combo that fits well on a team that will lose 100 games. Machado is still young and cheap enough to create a short career for himself as a utility infielder that struggles to stay in the majors.

I don't think hitting .250 is a stretch at all.

He hit .260 last year. But an OPS that flirts with .600 is no bueno.

Meanwhile, Eugenio Suárez, Devin Travis and Hernán Pérez are all worthy of a big league roster. And we cut everything we gave up for them. Well....I guess we didn't cut Gose, but just chose a bench coach over him so the Astros could add him to their roster for nothing.

DD always picks the wrong youth to hold on to.

Honestly, I don't think Sano is part of our long-term plan. It seems like he's fallen out of favor with management up here. Sure, he can mash the ball a long way when he connects. He strikes out a lot though and his weight has been a constant issue. Rumors were that we were shopping him before the allegations came out. Now I think we're pretty much stuck with him until the investigation is completed.

I do think the Indians will take a step back, though I see that as being low 90s instead of 100+ wins. The Indians have a great pitching staff (probably the best), but I don't see them repeating their historical 2017 season. Look at the 2016-17 Cubs and 2015-16 Cards (though there was some injury attrition for the latter).

Yep, expecting another 22-game winning streak sometime during the 2018 season might be a bit optimistic. Looking at 90-93 wins, but still the class of the ALC.

It's always nice for your W/L record when you can count on getting 15+ wins from a divisional opponent. :)

Reasonable.

However, there is potential that the Indians' performance could regress while their record stays the same or improves. They underperformed their pythag by five games.

Care to fill us in on Tito's special accomplishments in Stinktown?

All of them finish seasons with L's. What'd we all over look?
