Seriously, the Astros are 26-28 in the second half and just got swept in four games by the 59-80 Oakland A's -- outscored 15-41 (the Indians haven't given up 41 runs in their last 19 games).

You've got to question the methodology of a system giving that team the best odds to win the championship.

In answer to doug's question. I think the Indians will falter vs the Astros and Verlander and fail to reach the WS.

Now that it is on the verge of becoming the longest streak ever if they sweep the next series, I'm sure Detroit is foaming at the mouth to be the one to end it.

Yeah, not to mention the Tigers already represent 4 of the 18 wins from earlier this month. If the Indians happen to sweep this series, the Tigers will have been on the receiving end of a third of the Indians' win streak.

They've got to be pretty motivated to end this. Then again, motivated isn't synonymous with capable.

They have had and will continue to have very soft competition in September, but I'd venture a guess that most long streaks aren't complied against the best teams of the day.

They also had the Yankees and Orioles in there, so it's not all crap.

Their August schedule was tough - every team they faced was a playoff contender and over .500 when they played them. Fifteen of twenty-eight were on the road including 2 double headers. They went 19-9 in August and are 40-16 since the ASB.
