Indians down 6 nothing with a chance to get within a game? Blood is in the water.

... and this is what this thread should mainly be about ... Cleveland holding tightly on the first place position and Kansas City trying to rip it out of their hands.

Good Luck to both teams ... this may be entertaining

Just a thought....if Avila Sr and Ausmus aren't shown the door in the next week or two, I suspect that ownership is eyeing a total cleaning out of the front office and coaching staff at season's end. If your likely going to fire Avila's and Ausmus' logical (homegrown) replacements down the line....why make any changes in August?
Does it really matter if Ausmus or Legendary Lloyd is managing this collection of rag-tags? And if you replace Avila with an asst. GM...who cares? He won't do anything different this late in the game, knowing he's probably gone come October too.

No, the timing does not matter. This season is a bust. Looks like the next couple of seasons are, too. I just want both gone after the season's done.

Tigers - a team loaded with "mashers" - appears to have lost HEART. Just saying.

The Tigers are ranked 14 outta 15 for team ERA in the A.L. & 28 outta 30 in baseball. If they ever wanna be good again they better leave the major leagues.

(1) I couldn't agree more

(2) I am not ready to throw the towel in on next season

(3) Ausmus ... yes - Avila ... maybe. The Tigers are in this predicament because they went all in a couple of years ago ... I can't blame it all on Avila (but I do understand why some want him gone).

If you can give me a few examples of how Avila has helped the Tigers' on field product, while serving as the team's GM, I am open to changing my mind about his continued employment. Currently, if I had to keep one of Ausmus and Avila...I'd keep Ausmus.

If they keep Verlander, it will be because no other team wants to pay a good chunk of his contract for his aging arm. Hopefully, for the good of the franchise, they can find a deal for him and cut back their payroll. However, I can easily imagine a scenario where Verlander remains a Tiger for the next two years....Detroit really feeling the sting of giving long term contracts to players to play into their late 30s.
