I still think Markelle Fultz has a chance to develop into the shooting-first swing guard Philly needs to serve as a sixth man or counterpoint to Simmons. But man, I wish they had not traded up, taken Jayson Tatum, and kept the extra first they gave up to move up. That would help a lot in doing the kind of sign and trade I envision it will ultimately take to get Bron Bron in Sixers colors this offseason.

The only negative thing I can say about Tatum is he went to dook (and it wouldn't surprise me if he thinks the Earth is flat). He's had a solid rookie season. Hopefully he keeps improving each year.

didn't see a lot of Fultz, but imo his problem was the same as Ball's. he was in his own head...

hopefully he gets through that sooner rather than later...

Nobody has seen a lot of Fultz. He's only played in 11 games.

Never been a fan of them & haven't liked 99.9% of the players from that program. Grant Hill's the exception. I liked watching him in college (except the carolina game) & the start of his NBA career before this injuries started setting in. Too bad Tatum & Irving played @ the wrong program. What a mistake.

Yeah, I hate Duke like most normal people.

Tatum is not going to be a star but he will be a solid pro, and Philly has needs at the 3 as well as 2. That said, of course, if they get Lebron he will slide into the 3 spot, and perhaps a guy like Covington goes from 3 to 2.

That would be a filthy starting lineup on both ends of the floor, with absurd team assists, good size and length, OK shooting and rebounding.

This assumed JJ Reddick is gone, since he is only on a one-year deal. But I could see him back to try and win a ring.

They might have to lose a few guys like Covington, McConnell or Holmes in a sign and trade, but they do have the 5 draft picks in the next draft as noted. The guys that are absolutely untradeable of course are Simmons, Embiid and Saric.

He was really starting to get to the point where he was playing back to backs and the team was taking the kid gloves off of him--then this happened.

But yeah, Embiid plus Simmons plus Saric looks like a serious young core if they can stay healthy and Simmons can develop a better shot.

Saric is a lot better than I expected. He is a decent shooter from 3, a very good passing big, and he plays with very high energy. He is slow footed and that will never change, but man he hustles on the break. I think everyone does because playing with Simmons means great looks and easy buckets.
