He's stupid but I have to think he's invested a lot of the cash he's made.

It's easy to say he should stay for the shoe money but his quality of life might be better if he retires.

PS: If he retires, his contract becomes null and void?

Well usually endorsements require the endorsee to advertise in some fashion - and in this case that advertisement was to come by him wearing their shoes while playing. Not sure how else he can satisfy his obligation when we consider he isn't on TV & doesn't have some other vehicle in which he can advertise successfully.

Yeah, he can't retire if he wants that endorsement money.

While Rose is on a one-year, veteran’s minimum contract with the Cavaliers for this season, he still has seven seasons left on the 13-year, $185 million Adidas extension he signed in 2012. The brand is “absolutely” protected, according to an industry source familiar with NBA endorsement deal exit clauses. If Rose files retirement paperwork with the league, the terms of any remaining years on the Adidas deal will not be paid out.

If he doesn't want to be in a hover-round (like @mick7-1961) he should just sign a bunch of 1 year deals and say play me as the 3rd string PG.....LOL.

Yes, must be difficult, but most people find something else they're good at. It appears as though he has no plan B at this point. No really smart - hence my mental midget reference.
I mean, the guy isn't even thirty yet.

He probably didn't think it was something he needed to contemplate so soon.

But, with his history, maybe he should have.

Sad to see how far guys like Rose, Granger, Allan Houston and Roy fell so fast.

David Lee was never the caliber player of those guys.

But, he at least managed to hang on a few extra years.

So did Grand Mama, Larry Johnson after his back blew out.

Grant Hill too.

Good gawd that's a lot of loot. I mean goodness....13 years is a long time. I would imagine he'd have to forfeit some of that money at some point.

He could play for free and still be one of the highest paid guys on the team.

I'd do 10 day contracts for the next 5 years...lol

He's good as long as he doesn't officially retire.

Go to the G League.

IMO it's a mental thing too. We've seen so many players come back from more severe injuries. In any event I can respect making a decision that will impact your family. My point is there's a way to go about achieving that without seeming like a spoiled kid.

Only if he retires.

I don't see him making a team for the next 7 years under any circumstances.

Maybe the next 2.

Maybe a mid Season pickup.

Maybe to put asses in the seats at G League games.

He could take care of his kids grandchildren and more if he sets up a family trust with that endorsement money.
I think I remember reading somewhere that he lived a pretty simple life even after his 1st major contract. That's pretty smart if true. That's how one builds wealth.

Nor pigs feet.
I've never ate pigs tails or pigs feet, but have been told that pickled picks feet is delicious:lol: Then again, the same people used to eat possum, raccoons and squirrels which I have politely declined with a No Thank You
