Tommy needs to call 1-800-bets-off.

That is basically it right there. He needs to stop gambling. He loves it. The thrill of throwing it all up for grabs and hopefully hitting the jackpot.

Oh trust me, I think about it every time I replay that game in my mind.

And that was typical Tommy. Gambling. Just hoping one of our amazing receivers comes out of nowhere to snatch it out of the air.

maybe he's been around Favre too much.

Um, no. Unrealistic expectations. 20-25 attempts.

No, because of his erratic passing, 15 to 20 passes tops in ANY single game. He had 19 pass attempts against UCLA, and you saw what happened. We would have seen at least two more wins last season if west coast Riley had kept TAs passing attempts in the safe range.

The Mich. St. game was an exception to the rule because we were damn lucky their defensive backs had rocks for hands and dropped a few of TAs erratic passes. TA passed 33 times in that game and instead of only throwing 2 picks, he could have easily thrown 4 or 5 of them. I will add that I believe TA is a good QB if he's utilized properly.

I think we will see TA throw more screens. Or mid range passes and let the WRs do work. Honestly as long as I don't see TA spin before he rolls out I will be happy.

If he can get good at screens, and if the coaches can recognize that he's better at play action than pocket passing, coupled with keeping his pass attempts in the safe range of 15 to 20 passes per game, we'll then see an efficient offense.

Ideally that's exactly what the coaches want too, shit that's all I want, but then it gets complicated after the want part

Your plan will never work on a regular basis. Too easy to attack the box when you know there is only going to be a few pass plays.

Your disdain of TA is clouding your thinking.

You lost him at "attack the box."

Dude if we throw 15 times a game we will get blown the fuck out every other game.

You do realize how horrible UCLA's run D was, right? They had a ton of injuries to key players and they had midgets playing in their front 7.

Until we get a QB that is more consistent at passing then I guess Riley should continue to let an erratic QB throw 40 or more times a game? Some of you people here must enjoy more losses than what I like to see. Did you already forget the Iowa game and a few others that TA almost lost single handedly by himself thanks to West coast Riley's HORRIBLE offensive gameplan?

Also, I actually like TA, but Riley doesn't want to utilize him properly every game, which is to not play risky football even if that means to have some short runs during a game, which are better than the beauties like the pick sixes TA threw in the Iowa and the Northwestern game.

TA's passing was sure wonderful especially in the Northwestern and the Iowa games? Instead of throwing as many passes as he did, his passing attempts should have been limited and I truly believe Nebraska would have won those games. Let's not forget the Illinois game when his spectacular passing at the very end of the game should have been runs instead. Even if runs were of the one yard variety, Nebraska would have run out the clock, and guess what? That would have been another victory for Nebraska.

I'll say it again, until Nebraska gets a more consistent passer then why just "throw" games away like they don't mean a Goddamned thing?

It seems there are a few people here who believe taking much more risk is going to lead to more wins, but that isn't true. I realize some risk has to be taken, but not like the Callahan variety. Hopefully Riley has learned about the Callahan risk factor this upcoming season.

How could I forget the Iowa game? I couldn't believe all the points Tommy let them score. Those two long runs they had shows just how bad Tommy really is in Rileys scheme.

part TA, part Lewis. if Lewis does anything reasonably well on that play, like get the DE cut or just keep him from getting up field that play isn't a pick 6.
