Yeah. It is pretty crazy. If their scouting does the job, they're going to have a serious bottleneck of prospects in a few years. They'll have to move some of those picks out for (ideally) more NHL ready assets I would think.

Hopefully turns into one of those good problems to have.

I'm not delusional, not every prospect is going to pan out. I like Nylander's chances of success but Marner could easily just be too small and unable to adapt to the show. They might only get one or two NHLers out of last year's draft. They might have to package a bunch of these assets for a goalie at some point. But this tweet kinda sums up everything right now:

Okay, okay, I feel a rant coming.

WILL THIS CHILD REMEMBER OR ENJOY THIS EXPERIENCE AT ALL? This happens at baseball games a LOT and it drives me nuts. I once sat behind a group of parents and their small ones. Two infant, one under two. They spent zero time watching the game, had to carry two strollers up the stairs, one kid throwing stuff on people below. Just...I think I'd be too selfish to bring my kid until they can actually sit in the seat. They had to leave in the 6th because it was a night game and kids only last so long with attention spans. Get a babysitter, it's not worth that selfie with your baby at the game. It's loud, there are dangers, they won't enjoy it at all, you won't enjoy it as much...

I know you didn't post this for conflict, but nope. Nope nope nope. Guys that put up draft year (and draft +1 for that matter) numbers like that may disappoint (and even that doesn't happen often), but they pretty much never fail to be NHL players.

I'm just saying best laid plans and whatnot. I have no reason to think Marner won't be a success but he would hardly be the first highly-touted prospect to fail.

I'm just saying that while your general point is correct and a lot of the Leaf draft picks will not pan out (the vast majority of them even), Marner is not gonna be one of them though.

I thought it would be Shattenkirk, but with Piets down, I doubt they move him.

I think the Rangers will look to move Yandle. Which, is a pretty big name, IMO. And no, not just cause he's a Ranger.
