Greg Cossell on Seumalo

This kid is not a bad pick at all ... athletic, great leverage and leg drive, extremely smart, excellent scheme fit. Both Cossell and Moyock really liked the pick ... not understanding the hate aside from not being a much talked about name by internet draft guru's who mostly are guys like us here on the board. By all the vids/film I've looked at since we drafted him I think he has an excellent chance to come in and compete to start at LG; if not he still provides good depth which we really needed anyways.
Centers always go higher than people think. This kid will be our center eventually.

Rey that's just it... They didn't have any info on those players so obviously they aren't worthy of being picked in their minds.

As we all know most of the draft gurus on the internet played football at the nfl level or perhaps was it Division III college football? Chances are that they didn't, hell most haven't come close to sniffing athletic success in any sport during their life.

Perhaps they are statistic geeks who do data mining, and have figured out an algorithm based on data that other individuals have yet to figure out.... Again unlikely.

It's all a guess and it will take 2-3 years to see how the draft class pans out. Due to the nature of our draft I can only hope that wentz becomes as good as Donovan or better, and we get at least one solid starter out of the rest.

Wentz is a smarter more accurate nabby at this point who didn't play in a shotgun all his life. My guess is he's nabby++ when it's all said and done. That said, it's a big jump for him but a guy who never got a B and works hard should be OK.

So in reality, he's nothing like McNabb. Other being a #2 overall selection and a QB?

lol….So you guys are fine with the first 2 picks….but complaining we only might come out with 2 starters from this draft. We had 2 picks in the top 4 rounds, you get two starters and that's a win. Hell most GMs hope they get 2-3 starters from an entire draft. As if (5th round) Smallwood and a 6th round pick ruined this draft, man I would've hated being some of your parents on Christmas. :L

Yup. He's pretty much the anti-McNabb. Only thing in common is they're both athletic with a big arm and got drafted #2 overall.

McNabb was a better athlete coming in ... he later hit the weight gain circuit, but in his first couple of years Defenses had a really hard time knowing what to do with him as a play maker. Both he and Wentz have the great arms, but I feel Wentz has a much better understanding of Defenses coming in ... even if it's against lesser competition. Not that Wonderlic is the be all end all as there are many players like Marino, Jim Kelly, Bradshaw etc ... who scored horribly but had great careers ... but Wentz scored a 40 while McNabb scored a 14. I think Wentz will adapt to an offensive system faster than McNabb ever did; it just seems to me that the kid simply gets it.

Wentz reminds me so much of Brett Favre, his style, his personality etc...I hope he throws less int's than Favre, but I hope he is the Champion that Favre was.

Guys that should have been selected in earlier rounds that fell because of character concerns. When you are selecting guys like that in round 5-7 to me it's a win win. It's well worth the chance. I did not understand why we didn't take Alex Collins, unless Dougie P didn't see him as a WCO style rb. I'm glad we have some solid depth on our O-line now, between free agency and the draft, I'm pleased with this.

Alex Mccalister reminds me a lot of the FREAK. He needs to put on 15-20 pounds but he seems to have Freakish strength for his body type, and very explosive off the line, and he uses those long arms to get around O-tackles quite well. Could be a late round steal.

He is also a criminal.

Yeah well a stable of choir boys hasn't won shit! A good coach knows how to keep the punks on the team in line, and if you have good leaders on the team that shouldn't be an issue.

If both Jalen Mills and McCallister can stay on the straight and narrow, I think not only do they make the team, but also contribute as rookies. Mills imo is a 2nd or 3rd round talent ... McCallister has the it factor as a pass rusher, just needs to pack on little more weight.

The bottom line is this draft will be defined by Carson Wentz. We can bellyache forever about the other picks, if he is the only player out of this class to become what we hope he can become, the other picks don't matter. FWIW, I like the Seumalo pick, and I think most are in that opinion that he has some real value and can be a starter at some point, whether it be at Guard or Center. Shaun O'Hara at the combine had some really positive things to say about him during his workout and positional drills. Plus anyone who can pancake Buckner the way he did in that one highlight has my attention. If we get anything out of the rest, consider it a bonus.

I'm with Rey, the two guys to watch who can contribute sooner than later are Mills and McAllister; Mills can play all 3 postions in the backfield (outside, slot, safety) - talented player, the only football-related knock against him is he doesn't run fast. McAllister has good bend for a guy his size and is a great athlete that can be utilized a 3rd down specialist when Schwartz utilizes the wide-9 alignment.

There is no doubt that the draft will ultimately hinge on whether Wentz and the big trade was worth it. But, I sure hope we get a few more starters out of it, and hopefully some impact players for this season. I think it looks like a longshot though frankly.

We may not get any starters from this crop, but a few should provide depth. I'm not a Smallwood fan, and think there were better options at RB available. Time will tell.
