Warriors for 2017:

On the Books(assuming KD Opts out, which he will):
Klay Thompson: 17.8M
Draymond Green: 16.4M
Kevon Looney: 1.2M
Damian Jones: 1.2M
Pat McCaw: 900k
Jason Thompson(stretch provision): 945K
Steph Curry cap hold: 16.5M

Total: 55M

Warriors can retain Curry under Bird Right provisions, but they can hold off on resigning him to retain additional cap space. KD will likely sign for the max again at 30M.

So the Warriors have 85M in cap tied up with KD on the books retained.

With the cap being estimated now at 102(Luxury Tax at 122M), Warriors have 17M in cap space for a free agent. Warriors offer Nerlens Noel a 4 year 68M Deal (17 per). Warriors then re-sign Curry to Max at 30M per year. Salary increases his cap hold from 16.5M to 30M.

Curry - 30M
Thompson - 17.8M
Durant - 30M
Green - 16.4M
Noel - 17M

Looney - 1.2M
Jones - 1.2M
McCaw - 900k

Salary: 114.5M

Couple vet mins to round out the roster.

They have to max Curry eventually. That's when things get interesting.

I'd take Crawford over Smith. He can play 3 postions (PG, SG, and SF).

Smith can't play PG at all. Crawford can for a small amount of mpg.
They can both score in bunches. Smith is a better shooter consistently. Tough call.

Smith is better on defense and he doesn't need to play point, even on the second unit. JR is a better shooter too

Smith is average at best on defense and Crawford isn't that far behind him. Doesn't have to play PG? It's called versatility.

It doesn't change the fact he is very inefficient. Another point is Crawford is not a starter, Smith can off the bench or start. Overall, Smith is a better player and the fact Crawford is 36. Smith is only 30.

That will be key next summer when the Heat can get a max player and won't have to worry about a contract situation on the team to play out

Who are you targeting? Best players are PGs; Heat already have one under contract thru 2020?

Have they signed JR to a max contract yet???
