Before I was rudely interrupted by the news we had traded for Calderon......I was going to say:

Miami will be fine (as long as Whiteside doesn't back out)......they will have cap space next summer and can chase whatever FA's Riles wants. If they endure a rough season......big deal.

They'll be back.

Leaving for 7 million leaves a bad taste in my mouth especially knowing Miami couldn't offer him more than what they did. If Miami could have gave him 47-50 mill and only offer him 40 then I would understand
I thought 2 years 40 mil was definitely a fair offer as well

I didn't understand the rondo pick up but now it makes sense. I know they didn't know they would get wade but things fell in place. Thats why I was so pissed I wanted to rebuild instead we reloaded and still have room for a max next year. with only the rondo pick up it was like they were half way in rebuild mode and compete mode. This now makes them in compete mode.

I agree it would leave a bad taste in my mouth if that was a player I liked but wade has never been the highest paid player on his team and maybe he wanted to go home. Its not like this was the 1st time he was thinking about Chicago.

Again Im not thrilled about these moves but at least my team will compete and I will enjoy it a little.

If having Wade can attract one or two really good FA's next year, then this will work out for Chicago. They're not contenders this year imo, playoff team yes but ECF is their ceiling.

They have a ton of cap space next year and no real important free agents. Also got both draft picks next season. We will be fine.
Very childish of Wade the way he let this play out. My respect for him went down the toilet

Do you think Pat Riley had any responsibility ?

Why would the owner step in (without Pat) for a meeting with Wade ?

its very true....Dallas or Portland would prob take whiteside off your hands no problem unless he starts acting a fool too quickly....in addition if you trade him- you will also lose more which sets you up to get a higher lotto pick.

it all started with Wade- a great young player.....its what you need to attract players in todays environment- even to Miami or the Lakers.....get a great young player guys want to play with and you will be back in contention in no time....the problem is getting that guy. Winslow is good- and he can be a 2 or 3 i think down the line- but hes not that guy. Maybe Ingram is that guy for the Lakers...maybe he isnt, we shall see.....but once oyu get THAT guy- just like Kyrie in Cleveland, attracting free agents and building all of a sudden not only gets easier- but is actually attainable.

Winslow has a lot of good tools. His offense needs to improve. I don't know if I see star in the making with him, but the fact that he's 20 years old is nice. We'll see.

Wow front office doing smart moves. Just don't trade MDJ to the cavs. When they do trade MDJ and Gibson is off the books next year Bulls have enough for max next year. Plan falling in place.

if you guys could trade Whiteside at the trade deadline for a boat load and go into tank mode and get a 2nd or 3rd first round pick and a good young player ona controllable deal i would consider it.---- and get a really high lotto pick- i think that would be the fastest path towards serious contention....

if you could add a top 3-5 pick with Winslow that would be huge...i think Winslow could be good enough to be a 2/3 one day, but u sitll need a One...this draft is supposedly loaded.

Unless Whiteside does something really stupid they aren't trading him, and if he does something stupid, nobody will want him.

Since Whiteside has came on the scene he has been the most entertaining player we put on the court.
Crazy as it seems, he and Winslow are the new faces of the franchise.

As far as Wade, I just got home and don't know details/numbers, but if he wanted anything more then the 40/2 or that plus McBob money, then I'm glad the Heat didn't cave.

No players ego can be put ahead of the long term health of the franchise.

I'm totally cool winning 25 games for a season and quickly rebuilding like I know they will.

Micky always does that. He did the same last year. Nothing new. Miami offered him all they had left. Can't offer him money they don't have

Here is a weird question how do the Cavs clear space. Does that mean JR Smith is bye bye. If so then its not a smart move by the Cavs.

Wade just shit on Miami for what comes out to about 4-5 mill. I hope his endorsement deals completely fall apart

I thought he'd leave for like 3 years $70 mil or something along those lines. That deal he's getting is weak for why he's leaving. He wants to stick it to Riley.

Oh well, we have our flexibility.

Not a bad trade for the Lakers tbh, gives them a veteran PG who can help Russell and Clarkson. And he'll be off the books next year just in case a certain bruin in Oklahoma wants to join the team. I think he's only got one year left, if not then this is way off.
