FUN FACT.

After all taxes, Durant would earn more net pay (16M) from Heat or Spurs, then the (14.5M) he'd make in OKC.

Memphis is going all out to compete next season.

However, adding Gordon is a mistake imo.

Lets make it happen. New York makes basketball fun when they have a good team.

That would be a roster far closer to contending than the existing HEAT roster IMO.

Melo and Porzingis couldn't get that team anywhere close to the playoffs.

Rose and Noah couldn't even stay on the court and are shells of the players they used to be.

Phil hired a coach to specifically run the Triangle, who has zero experience running the triangle.

Meanwhile, Miami at least had a roster that was one game away from the conference finals (finished further in the playoffs by a game than the Spurs) and was missing Bosh.

So yeah...the Knicks would be a much better contending team. GTFO

Washington, San Antonio and Minnesota in the mix for C Ian Mahinmi, who won’t return to Indy next year after Pacers’ deal w/Al Jefferson.

Spurs getting him would actually be significant. That's what they were missing last year given they had no one that could fill the Splitter role.

Hornacek isn't going to run the Triangle.....he's going to run an up tempo offense.

my post from MAY of 2015. As always- time vindicates.

dude...you need to understand the AMAZING deal guys that sign as max free agents this summer are going to be soon--- its why you listen to the Chicago/Cavs series and here HONEST opinions on how garbage man Tristan Thompson will get a max deal.

A max deal for a butler or green or even a thompson- is going to be about 15.5 million dollars. about 1/4 of the cap - that is the definition of a max player unless they are a Rose rule max - they get 1/4 of thecap...which will be about 16 million. Its what Kyrie Irving signed and its why he is goign to be one of the best deals in the NBA later on in his contract.

Butler signing a 16 million dollar max right now is a STEAL for the Bulls. 2 years from now 1/4 of the cap is going to be OVER 25 million for a "max" player. There is no way on Gods green earth the Bulls do not bring back Jimmy Butler at 16 million a year , when 3 offseasons from now the cap is going to be 108 million dollars at 16 million is going tobethe going rate for a above average big man like Tristan Thompson.

Its why giving Dragic 20 million is something that is palatable if you believe in him- he gets a little extra than the guys coming off their rookie deals - but soon he will be LESS than 1/5 of your cap even though he will be a "max"-

its why Draymond Green will DEFINITELy get the "max" 15-16 million.

and the thing is- the Lakers cant even offer as much since the home team gets the built in advantage of an extra contract year and slightly higher raises.

The Bulls would move Noah or Gibson or wheover LONG before they declined to give Jimmy Butler 16 million a year.- especialy when 16 million a year is going tobe a STEAL soon.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you g

My post- April 2015...do the Sixers still have a GM opening? JD preferred? :)

if Kawhi signs a MAX right now itll be a steal for the Spurs since it will only be around 16M or so....if they wait until the cap comes up I have no doubt someone would offer him 20 or more a year with how much cap space every team is going to have.

the league is going to be fucking weird a couple of summers from now- in a span of 2 years the cap will go from like 67 million (next offseason) to like 102 million just 2 years after that...Rose-Rule players get 33 percent i believe- a guy like Kawhi coming off his rookie deal is eligible for a MAX that is 25% of the cap i believe- so he would get like 16 a year....Just for example- Kyrie signed his max last summer- and his 5 year deal kicks in next year and pays him like 15-17M per year during the life of the deal.

If Kawhi gets 16 million a year for 5 years the Spurs would be getting a great deal and some very nice cost-certainty and a building block to re-tool around while only committing like 15% of the cap to him.

Draymond Green is another great example- GREAT defensive player- solid on offense- I GUARANTEE you he gets a "max" offer from MULTIPLE teams this offseason which would be the same as Kawhi like 16 or so a year. Its more interesting when discussing Green though since the Warriors have some major payroll issues coming up and will have to get creative to retain Green- Lee/Bogut/Iguadala make 15, 12 and 12 next year- and Iggy and Bogut have an additonal yeaR PASSED next year still on the books. Add in Currys 11 (the best bargain in basketball) and Klays 15M- and Livingstons 5 million, Barnes 4, and you are already well over the cap. No one is taking Lee's awful deal and I dont think people would be that interested in paying Bogut or Iggy that kind of money for the next two years. Can they really make Green their highest paid player at `16M a year when Lee is making 15, Klay 15, Iggy 12, Bogut 12, Curry 11?- just Lee, Klay, Iggy and Bogut already just about max out their cap space at 65million...

Goddamit, you were actually tolerable for the last couple of days. But yeah, given everyone's reaction in the media, I don't think people saw these contracts coming.

And on ESPN right now, they say worse deal of free agency so far is - Mozgov. Shocker.
