I'd take the pick as well. If the Lakers keep their high lottery pick, they could be in position to get Lonzo Ball (although my more realistic target for this roster would be Josh Jackson). Either way, Exum is likely depth.

Yeah, I'm coming around on Jackson too. I was Team Lonzo, but the next time he plays defense will be the first time. The Lakers need defense badly. Especially perimeter defense.

Fultz and Ball definitely seem to have solidified themselves as no 1 and 2, but I still think Jackson has NBA star potential.

What I've read is that Ball is better defender and works harder on D than Fultz does. I've watched them both a couple of times -- wasn't watching their D very closely.

Pat Riley doesn't know what the hell he's doing. The Heat will never get back to championship caliber basketball. Tristan Thompson > Hassan Whiteside. Dan Gilbert is genius. And Duh King rulz. wiggy for prez-o-dent in 2020! Now you're all caught up.

Lakers Name Earvin "Magic" Johnson President of Basketball Operations

Magic to run Lakers Basketball Front Office as part of restructuring.
Posted: Feb 21, 2017

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss announced today that the team has named Earvin "Magic" Johnson as President of Basketball Operations. In addition, General Manager Mitch Kupchak has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately. Furthermore, Jim Buss will no longer hold his role as Lakers Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.

I guess the Lakers front office shake up is probably why the Lakers passed on trading for Boogie. With Kupchak and Buss out now, they need to re-evaluate the entire roster and figure out which direction to go.

FINALLY wittle Jimmy's reign of terror is over!

long live Magic!!

when has putting a former athlete in charge of a front office ever gone wrong?

Danny Ferry did a great job w/ your Cavs. But just a slight warning for you: not the best of ideas to talk shit about Magic. Oh hell what am I thinking? You badmouth Pat Riley (a former player) all the time. So, please continue.

There are outliers, but I'm not sure Magic is someone I want running the front office. His aforementioned tweets show he's out of touch on some things. But who knows? Maybe he has the ability to trust his scouts on evaluations.

Cowherd from FS1 has the same opinions as far as putting legendary players in charge of franchises in this capacity. And I agree with him. Hopefully it works out.

If I'm Magic, the first phone call I make is to Jerry West. I don't think West leaves the Warriors, even though his contract with them expires at the end of the season. The reason I think he'll stay is because he has equity now in the team. But it never hurts to ask and at worst, he might be willing to provide him some insight.

The Lakers already hired Luke. Might make sense if they tried to poach some of the Warriors FO too.

Well, Jerry west for one.....but as I've said from the start, it's my belief/hunch that Magic will not be running day to day. He's more so gonna take the Jerry Buss role of overseeing things as we bring in a new GM to run everything. If it goes down like that, I'm ok with it
