The Cavs trade exception for Varejao of like 4.2 M or something close to that expires today and supposedly they are aggresively trying to use it.

Should be interesting to see if anything happens. Its kind of nice in a way because it creates an artificial deadline for them.

i read that the Lakers were engaged in discussions about Cousins but seeing as they have no 1st rounder to trade until the next presidential administration it wasnt really going to work.

They wanted Ingram.

I'm very pissed, this is a shitty deal. I was okay with them moving on from Cousins, but to settle for this is horrible. This team won't be winning anytime soon with what they have in their front office.

There had to have been a better deal that could've been made. If the league is so concerned about competitive balance (like they are with free agency), the NBA should veto this trade. The scales are so unbalanced on this one. Kings go from decent to horrible, while Pelicans go from below average to possibly a major threat to any team, including Cavs, Spurs, and Warriors. It'll be interesting to see how Davis and Boogie work together, but the sky's the limit.

Just a terrible deal. I see no way the Kings feel good about this deal 3 years from now unless the Pelicans miss the playoffs and that draft pick becomes a top 10 pick which would give them 2 lottery picks.
