The crazy thing about Miami is their schedule for the rest of the year is not that difficult. After playing Houston next week, the only top caliber teams they play the rest of the year are Cleveland 3X (Cleveland won't be playing their guys in the final meeting of the year), Boston 1X, & Toronto 3X. After the AS break, they only have 1 road game left against the Western Conference.

The Heat have been doing great. The dilemma that teams like Heat & Lakers & Knicks face is what is best approach for the team's long-term success.

My feeling it is great that coach & players should always do their best to win games -- even if it hurts their draft position. BUT ... it is really the front office that can help the team get a better draft pick without coach/players tanking. I think those teams should look at who is part of their long-term future and invest in them. I think the Heat are doing fine -- as long as they view Dragic & Waiters part of their long-term plan -- let them play, coach them up and win games. I think the Lakers (on the other hard) should trade Lou Williams and play the younger players instead of Moz & Deng. (which they are doing the last week or two)

i think thisi s a great post

can you win with Dragic and Waiters as your back court? Is it worth it to invest in them long term and give them the keys to the car?

its a great question.

I think Waiters is the bigger question. Dragic has proven he can play. But with Waiters, is this a guy who is playing for a contract and will revert back to underachieving once he gets paid? Or is he just a late bloomer/finally in the right place and going to continue playing like this for the rest of his career?

If they re-sign him to a big deal, the Heat risk wasting money on him if he reverts back. If they don't, they risk watching him tear up the league for someone else.

Agree. I'm glad Luke decided to just run with the young guys the rest of the way. It'll be great for their development.

As I've said before, I love how Lou is playing, but he's the Lakers most valuable asset that they'd be willing to trade (all of the young guys are off the table unless they get some crazy offer) and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a chance to play for a playoff team. He deserves it. I think the Lakers could probably get a pretty good young player and 1st round draft pick for him from a playoff team looking for points off the bench.

So far, 11 in a row, so they can win.
Small sample size, but impressive to say the least.
Probably the least probable long winning streak of all time.
Let's see how the season plays out.
We're winning without the players we thought we needed to win with.
Winslow/Richardson will only make us that much better.

My answer would be based on what Waiters will want salary wise.
If its reasonable, I'd go with it.

I'm really starting to dislike Phil.

The mind games were one thing when he was coaching, because they were winning.

But, he has been a shit GM and needs to stop this passive aggressive crap and just be a man.

Say what we all know to be true: You want Melo gone.

I've also never cared for PJ as the GM. He's clueless and needs to get with the 21st century style of basketball. That being said, I kind of side with him here. Melo is nothing but a ball hog who ruins every game strategy the minute he touches the ball. Can you imagine him trying to play in Golden State's offense? He would go out of his mind with all of that passing! He's a guy who just wants to be a one-man show and not play a team game and has never listened to any coach. Phil taking this spat publicly is about the only way he knows how to get Melo to listen.

The best thing about the Heat winning is that it's probably helping us to attract free agents. We obviously have a great culture and coaching staff that we're able to compete with this roster.

I said that last year and a certain Warrior fan took offense to it.

I remember that. Yeah, great record and all, but at the end of the day, they are just one of 29 teams that didn't win the title.

The increases, which were first reported by ESPN, will depend on location and range from approximately 15 to 25 percent. The most affordable seats for season-ticket holders will spike from $32 to $40 per game. Not including the playoffs, the most sought-after courtside seats will rise from $625 to $715.1 day ago
Warriors to raise ticket prices - SFGate

I remember when Heat got big 3.
Riley addressed premium seat holders/sponsors and said if the fans wanted these type of players, they were going to help pay for them.

That being said, Heat prices are TONS higher then Warriors, and they never lowered then after James left.

I'm glad I saw this.
