If there is one thing I've learned from the recent ascension of the Warriors, is that there is no right way to construct a team. It's about maximizing value from players and playing towards strengths. Whiteside's ability to shoot or pass could be relegated to a non-factor, based on the surrounding cast and scheme. He is though already good enough to anchor a defense in the middle.

As for his perimeter defense, DAJ is pretty terrible on the perimeter as a defender. Bogut was a terrible perimeter defender (continually played under in the pick and roll), but because of the length of the Warriors wings, it wasn't exploited.

The thing is every player has a weakness. The teams that can hide it the most are usually the most successful. If you look at the Blazers, they have the worst defensive back-court in the NBA. But because of guys like Harkless, Aminu, Crabbe, who are all versatile defenders, they negated a lot of deficiencies of Dame and CJ.

It's clear the Heat need a rebuild, but Whiteside is far from being the weakest link there.

asik....now THAT is a bad contract....

no one is trading for a big man that makes that much money- who is that slow, cant shoot, and cant pass.

I'd call the 76ers right now and offer them Asik, 2018 1st Rd pick(likely to still be a very high pick), and cash for Nerlens Noel. Clears another 9M off the books and you get Noel back in return to pair in the front court with Davis. Then even after an extension with Noel, you'd have probably 12-15M in cap space to sign another wing and another high draft pick in the 2017 Draft.

Clearly to Wiggy its an issue that he works with an hall of famer and another great player to become a better person on and off the court. Also if you read Ira's article that he linked, there was not one mentioned of behavior issues. Its all about becoming a better basketball player

I was supposed to get to hang with him and the others at a Heat event tonight, but my wife woke up sick.
I was hoping to pick his brain if he would stand still for 5 minutes.

It would be hilarious for all of that shit talking that Lebron's been doing about losing a 3-1 lead; then for the Indians to lose the World Series having a 3-1 lead. Lebron may have broken the Cleveland curse, but I feel he just put one on the Indians.

Joe Maddon coaching himself out of this game. Horrible management this game. And yes, fully aware this is a basketball thread.

Cleveland's winning this shit. And the way Maddon's managed this game, they deserve it. #choke

lol my friend was just saying the same...

Seriously. Maddon had two pitchers who were doing an amazing job, and pulled them both early. On top of that, how do you tell your batter when he's sitting on a 3-2 count to bunt with a man on 3rd with 1 out?

Maddon is a fucking tool. If they lose this game, I will find someway to listen to Chicago Sports Talk radio to hear his ass get destroyed.

It honestly a shame that one team/fanbase has to lose.

Yep no question about it. Especially when you considered both teams have gone without a World Series. Sucks that one of these curses will continue at the end of this game
